The Rongai Route is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, near the Kenyan border. Rongai’s ascent profile is very similar to that of Marangu. It is one of Kilimanjaro’s easier routes. The climb to the top is gradual and steady. However, unlike Marangu, this route has low crowds and passes through remote wilderness areas. It is probably the only route where seeing wildlife in the first days is possible.

Just finished my descent from Uruhu peak at Kilimanjaro after a great 6 days with the crew from Pinnacle in Tanzania. 5/5 feels too low, if 6 was an option I’d give it. 100% if you’re considering an adventure book with Pinnacle. If you’re doing Kilimanjaro, request JT(yes it’s his real name) and/or Jonas as your guide. They are absolute legends, honestly not enough good things I can say about them

My father and I joined an open group to do the 6 day Rongai trek followed by a 4 day safari, all through Pinnacle. When booking, Frazier was very patient with our many questions and filled us in on at the info we needed. On the trek, we had Robert (lead guide), as well as Amedeus, Ramadan and Godfrid (assistant guides) who were all superb. They really took care of us so that all we had to worry about was putting one foot in front of the other. Honestly the entire crew was amazing. The food was quite tasty, and there was always plenty of it (our cook Roja was called Mr Delicious for a reason). Everyone was always so happy and such a pleasure to be around, and it really felt genuine. It made trekking up a mountain feel that much easier. The crew would check on our health every day, twice per day, and make sure all was well. The summit night was definitely unpleasant, but the guides and a few porters were there to help us make the last push and we made it. Pinnacle's gear was great as well; we rented sleeping bags and they were definitely warm enough. The safari was equally good. Our guide was so good at finding animals, it was unbelievable. We got to see all big 5 and other rare sightings on top of that. The lodges we stayed at were all great as well. Transport was taken care of every step of the way, even airport transfers. I loved my experience with Pinnacle, and would definitely consider them for any future trekking trips I might do.

Everything was perfect! Booked 8 days Lemosho route Kilimanjaro and 5 day safari with Pinnacle. This was my second time going to Tanzania and both I’ve used Pinnacle. If I ever return a third time I would defiantly use Pinnacle and recommend them too!

I've just completed the Rongai Route and what an experience! This is a company that can be trusted - our head guide Tuma excelled in ensuring our safety throughout. A special shout out to the team of Porters who worked tirelessly to create high levels of comfort and great tasting food at each campsite, and to our guides who ensured our group had a 100% success rate. Thanks for making it so memorable.

The trip was organized very well and we felt very certain in the arrangements made were solid and we would make our flight reservations etc. The thing that stands out it the quality of guide for Kilimanjaro. We had supreme confidence in the knowledge, leadership, and strength of our two guides. We trusted our lives to them and they earn our total confidence. We got safety up and down the mountain due to the experience of the guides and the porters. On Safari, our man had eagle eyes and was very accommodating. At the end of the day, I felt we were well taken care of and accounted for in Africa by the company, but the men and women they employ are capable and personable. I can be quite misanthropic and untrusting but the people they employed earned my trust with sincere customer service, especially our Kilimanjaro guides.

Summit push day to Uhuru summit and there I was dragging myself up close to 2 hrs behind the schedule but for the positive motivation and push from my climbing guide Issa I would not have made it to sumit. On numerous occasions both Issa as well as Reginald went out of their way beyond what was reasonably expected to help me out to make my Kilimanjaro peak trek a memorable one.

We had an outstanding trip with a two day Safari up front, 6 day Kili climb, and 2.5 days in Zanzibar. The guides and porters were all incredible. Great trip.
