  • Tibet is beautiful, but the experience with this package was deeply disappointing.

    Travelisse,Jun 1, 2026

    - Review from Tripadvisor

    1.00

To start with the positives: Tibet itself is absolutely amazing, and Amy was very helpful throughout - she was truly 5 stars. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. I would strongly advise not booking the hotel package. What they do not clearly tell you is that you can arrange your own hotels for less money, in better locations, and with much better quality. The included 3-star hotels were outdated, with poor breakfast and locations far from the center of Lhasa. Not to mention bedbugs in Shigatse. The tour guide was also a major disappointment. Khalsang claimed to have 28 years of experience, but his English was very difficult to understand - spend some time improving your accent as this is your job. He also struggled to answer even basic questions - at one point, he actually told us we should study Buddhism ourselves, which felt very dismissive. As a European traveler, I came here to learn, and I expected a guide who could explain things clearly and respectfully. Yes, basic things for him, but not for me. The organization was highly inefficient. Just as an example: The monastery in Shigatse was only a 10-minute walk from the provided 3* hotel, yet we had to meet at 8:15 a.m. so the bus could drive around the city to pick up other guests, and we only arrived at 9:15 to the monastery => I could have left at 9.00AM instead of 08.15. I could have slept an extra hour and simply walked there myself. The worst part of the trip was the hotel issue. Others experienced bed bugs and as I am allergic I had to change hotels. But I was left to wander around alone at midnight trying to find another hotel. Amy did eventually help get the stay reimbursed, but the on-site guide laughed at my reaction, hung up the phone, and offered no support. It is clear that they know travelers have limited alternatives because the guided tour is mandatory, and unfortunately the quality did not match the price. My recommendation: Arrange your own hotels separately. That would at least make the experience more acceptable despite the unavoidable parts of the tour. Overall, I would give this experience 1 star, only because 0 stars is not possible.

  • Excellent Tour Experience with Tibet Vista

I booked directly with Tibet vista. The pre-experience with my personal assistant was very good, everything went smooth and quick. All information and details given. The Tour operator picked me up from the airport, everything went perfectly. The Tour destinations exclusive, interesting and traditional. The hotels very good, you could choose if 3 or 4 stars, with breakfast buffet included. The destinations were beautiful, lots of culture, history and nature. A big thank you to my tour guide Choezom, she was very professional, caring, helpful and attentive. The tour experience without her would not have been the same, as she cared a lot about the well-being of the participants, very responsible and efficient. You could always count on her, happy to have had her as my guide. I can recommend this tour and especially Tibet Vista and the guide very much.

  • A Journey into the Heart of Tibet: History, Culture, and the Qinghai-Tibet Railway

    601yukih,May 7, 2026

    - Review from Tripadvisor

    5.00

I recently joined this 5-day tour, starting with the iconic train ride from Xining to Lhasa (Z8981) and extending all the way to Shigatse. It was an extraordinary experience that perfectly balanced historical exploration with authentic local life. Seamless Logistics and Warm Welcome The logistics were handled with professional precision. From the passport checks at the station to the airport transfers for my flights back via Chengdu and Shanghai (CA4402/4509), everything was seamless. I especially appreciated the flexible station pickup in Lhasa, which made the arrival at high altitude completely stress-free. A Deep Dive into Tibetan History The itinerary was exceptionally well-curated. Beyond the majestic Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple, visiting the great monasteries of Drepung and Sera provided a profound look into Tibetan Buddhism. Walking through Barkhor Street and spending time in a local sweet tea house felt like a true cultural immersion rather than just typical sightseeing. Participating in local folk activities at Lukhang Park was also a unique highlight. Stunning Scenery and Shigatse Exploration The journey to Shigatse via Yamdrok Lake offered some of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen. The turquoise waters of the sacred lake are unforgettable. In Shigatse, the Tashilhunpo Monastery and the vibrant local markets offered a fascinating contrast to Lhasa, filled with history and local energy. Excellent Guide and Authentic Flavors The Tibetan dinner and tea experiences were fantastic. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, bringing the complex history of each site to life with insightful explanations. For anyone looking for an efficient, well-organized, and intellectually stimulating journey through Tibet, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. A truly 5-star experience!
