This excursion is ideal for adventurers and mountain lovers. Many people travel to Cape Verde and come to the island of Fogo especially to climb the majestic volcano "Pico de Fogo". This ascent allows you to reach... the highest point in Cape Verde! This magnificent volcano still in activity rises to 2829 meters above sea level. The level of difficulty of this climb is difficult. You need to be in good physical condition. You will be accompanied by an experienced local mountain guide. In terms of sensations, the climb can be a challenge for some. But be aware that a great reward awaits you at the top: total tranquility and a spectacular panoramic view. The descent of the volcano on the volcanic ash is very pleasant and jovial. This excursion provides enthusiasm and strong emotions. You will love!

Pico Do Fogo
This ascent of the Grand Pico volcano, over 1000 meters in elevation, is done in the company of an experienced local mountain guide who has perfect knowledge of the volcano. The excursion lasts on average 5 hours. The ascent lasts 3 to 4 hours and the descent 1 to 2 hours depending on the pace of each. The climb, sometimes sporty, is regularly interspersed with breaks allowing you to breathe and contemplate the landscape. Once at the top, a feeling of extreme satisfaction emerges. And what a pleasure to be at such a high altitude and so close to the crater of the silent, unruffled, yet still active Grand Pico! The descent on the volcanic sand is light and very pleasant. If you stay in São Filipe, we offer the excursion "Departure from São Filipe" including the transfer from São Filipe - Chã das Caldeiras - São Filipe. We also have the option "Departure from Chã das Caldeiras" if your accommodation is located there.

5.00The trip was very intens. You really have to climb. If you are afraid of hights or have a bad condition, don't try this If you love hiking, than this is absolutely something for you! Our guide Flavio also did a great job! He was patient and very helpful. Props to him!

5.00Great guide and trip up to the top. Route would've been hard to find without help and we learned some new things about the local villages. The view from the top is amazing. The downhill was surprisingly nice with a large section where we could run downhill on the volcanic sand.

5.00Before the ascension Qualitur already contacted me beforehand to let me know what to expect. They are very communicative and their office was easy to find in Sao Filipe. During the hike I had a great time, my guide was very attentive and checked in various times whether I needed a break. He attentively adjusted to my speed where necessary. The guide informed me during the hike about the town of Cha das Caldeiras and explained about the flora and fauna. Although the climb was challenging it was worth it at the top. The descent was very pleasant and a lot of fun! Afterwards there was an unexpected, yet welcoming lunch planned in the town of Cha das Caldeiras, which was very tasteful. Would definitely recommend this experience!

5.00Qualitur were excellent. Fatima helped with my flight and ferry tickets from Praia to Fogo at quite short notice, which were not straightforward to purchase myself, out of the country. The tours I arranged through Qualitur were also great, and the guides were very nice. The trip to the top of Pico do Fogo was really spectacular 🇨🇻🌋. Thanks very much
