El-Jem
El Djem Coliseum, also known as the Amphitheatre of El Djem, is a remarkable Roman ruin located in the town of El Djem, approximately 60 kilometers south of Sousse in Tunisia. It is one of the most impressive and well-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Coliseum was constructed around the 3rd century AD during the reign of the Roman Emperor Gordian. It was primarily used for gladiatorial contests and other public spectacles, much like the famous Colosseum in Rome. With a seating capacity of up to 35,000 spectators, it was one of the largest amphitheaters in the Roman Empire. The structure of the Coliseum is an architectural marvel. It consists of three levels, with arches, galleries, and stairways. The outer façade, made of limestone blocks, features intricate carvings and decorative elements. The interior of the amphitheater has underground chambers and passageways that were used to house animals, gladiators, and equipment.
Matmata
The village of Matmata is situated in a semi-arid region characterized by rocky desert landscapes. The distinctive feature of Matmata is its troglodyte houses, which are traditional underground dwellings carved into the soft limestone hills. These homes were originally designed as a response to the extreme temperatures of the desert, providing natural insulation and protection from the harsh climate. The troglodyte houses are typically comprised of interconnected rooms arranged around a central courtyard, with each room serving a different purpose. Some of these houses have been transformed into unique hotels, allowing visitors to experience the traditional lifestyle of the local Berber community. Matmata gained international recognition when it served as a filming location for the "Star Wars" movies. The underground dwellings of Matmata were used as the set for Luke Skywalker's home on the desert planet of Tatooine.

The village's main attraction is the Chenini Mosque, which dates back to the 12th century. Fresh from our trip through Tunisia! We have come back delighted! My partner and I have traveled it from north to south for 7 days. There has been everything: cities, mosques, Roman ruins, charming villages, palm groves, oases, dunes, ksar, troglodyte houses, beach... a super complete trip, this country has everything! We had doubts whether to do it on our own or hire a guide to take us from one place to another. After doing a little research I found Salem's contact (Mbarki Travel Services) and decided to write him... so right!! I don’t know if we would have seen half of the things going alone... Salem is very nice, super attentive, you can rating that he has been working as a guide for many years, he knows how to move and when it is the best time to visit each thing, he explains very well, he gives you your time and space... what started being a Guide-client relationship, has ended up being a friendly relationship! Not forgetting our super drivers, Hamis and Marwen, phenomena! From day one communication with him has been super smooth. I wrote him an email with the places he wanted to visit and he devised the route, adding some more things, and took care of booking the hotels, all great! So I can only recommend it 100%, you will not regret it! Habibi Salem!
