Kolmanskop Ghost Town
After an early breakfast we make our way from Klein Aus to the ghost town, also known as Kolmanskop, situated 15km outside of Luderitz. During a diamond boom in 1910 Kolmanskop quickly became one of the richest towns in Africa boasting the southern hemisphere’s first X-ray machine, a bowling alley and luxury housing. As the diamond boom came to an end and the town’s inhabitants abandoned the area, Kolmanskop became a ghost town.
Luderitz
After our tour of the ghost town, we continue our adventure to the small town of Luderitz, situated on the rocky shores of the Atlantic Ocean and is well known for its unique and colourful colonial-style buildings.
Dias Cross (1488)
We stop at Diaz Point, the famous site of the Original Diaz Cross.
Wild Horses of Aus
On return to Aus, we keep our eyes peeled for the wild horses of the Namib Desert that roam between Luderitz & Klein Aus. While the details of how these horses came to live in the desert are still a mystery, the mere fact that they have survived in the harshest of conditions is impressive, and any sighting of them is one to celebrate.
We arrive back at camp late mid-afternoon and can relax for the afternoon before enjoying another incredible sunset over the Aus Mountains. Dinner tonight is prepared by our guide.

We enjoy an another early start this morning as we pack up camp and head east. Our first official stop is at the well-known Hell`s Bend viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon. Here we have the opportunity to overlook the second largest canyon in the world. The Fish River Canyon was formed millions of years ago by water erosion and the collapse of the valley due to movements in the earth’s crust.
Garas Park Camp
After lunch we continue our adventure heading to our last destination; The Quiver Tree Forest. It is located just north-east of Keetmanshoop and here approximately 250 quiver trees can be found. The forest grew spontaneously and the oldest trees are estimated to be around 200-300 years old. The quiver tree (kokerboom in Afrikaans) is also Namibia’s national tree. The last night on our adventure is spent camping under the stars with meals prepared by our guide. This is an excellent location for photographing the stars should you be an avid photographer (permits not included for night photography).

Very poor communication. I'm not sure if the guide and office were being incompetent or dishonest. My tour was poorly planned, but the driver and office refused to consider and suggestions to improve the logistics. The driver (Raymond) was going much too fast on poor desert roads, leading to a tyre blow out and a battery exploding (!). It seems he was under pressure to get to his destination quickly. This might have been because of earning commission from the scheduled afternoon tour. On inspection, the damaged tyre was a cheap remould. We spent five hours in the Namib desert before a car came to take us to Walris Bay. Namibia is a beautiful country, and locals are kind and friendly. I'm afraid Chameleon Safari let their country down.

Our guide and driver, Simon, was very knowledgeable, courteous and considerate. He knows a lot about wildlife, geology, and Namibian history. He's also a decent cook.

Breathtaking tour of southern Namibia! Amazing sights of the towering sand dunes, expansive Fish River Canyon, charming Swakopmund, intense sunrises, sunsets, star filled night skies! etc etc. Our tour guide/driver Simon and assistant guide Smithley were absolutely wonderful, bringing us from destination to destination with insightful information on the flora/fauna, geology and history along the way. Everything from prompt camp setup to delightfully prepared meals and engaging conversations (baie dankie vir die Afrikaans lesse) were outstanding! Terrific value for memories that will last a lifetime :D

What a wonderful experience! The 7 days camping tour through southern Namibia was truly amazing from the first minute until the end. You get to see so many beautiful places, basically one highlight after the other. Fish River canyon, Kolmanskoppe, Swakopmund - all of them are great - but the dunes around Sossusvlei and Deadvlei were my personal highlight. The feeling when seeing the sunrise from Dune 45 or when on top of Big Daddy is just incredible! Namibia itself is so beautiful already, but a very special thanks to the guides Josef and Michael!! They made so much more out of this trip. Always taking good care, always in a good mood and very helpful all the time. Great cooks and very nice evenings with so much to laugh at the fireplace that I’ll never forget. It was great to see how much they love this country and how they enjoyed sharing their experiences. The group was really nice which made the long car drives really enjoyable and it was just an amazing week. And it doesn‘t matter if you’ve camped before or not - it’s really easygoing and much more comfortable than expected! This tour is 100% recommendable!

I had a unique experience through this Safari. All this thanks to the two guides Kenedy and Raymond who we should nickname “the go-to guy” Delicious dishes, jokes, energy bombs, precise information throughout the journey, recommendations, adaptation and flexibility, sharing of good tips and advice... In short, these two people marked my trip and I will surely come back to visit thanks to them.

I had a wonderful seven day trip with Chameleon! Our tour guide Greg and camp assistant Ronnie went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and that we were on time. During the tour, a lot of information was provided to us to contextualize our safari experience. I had an amazing time with Chameleon and would recommend the tour to anyone interested in visiting Namibia.

I had a really wonderful experience with Gregory and Bronihel. Gregory drove safely and they gave us great explanation and succinct trip. It was really organized and everything was fine. They cooked very well, and I enjoyed the meal as well. Just within 7days, but this tour covered a lot!
