Drive in the direction of the Volcanoes National Park and immerse yourself in Ibilwachu loosely meaning “our way of life,’’ and be surprised by Rwanda’s resilient culture. Savor coffee made from the beans you roasted while indulging with the locals.

Drive to Volcanoes National Park headquarters and join your gorilla-trekking group. With help from your park guide, traverse the dense forest until you come face-to-face with a local gorilla family. Observe them as they play, forage and rest in the shade of the trees. You are given one hour to spend in the presence of these magnificent animals, marveling at their behavior like our own.

Early morning transfers to Kigali International airport for your flight to Kogatande Airstrip-Tanzania. You are driven directly to the hotel for check in. The camp is situated on a hill, surrounded by huge evergreen trees, with sweeping views of the Northern Serengeti. Spend the evening stargazing with endless roars of lions throughout the night.

Serengeti National Park

Day 5-6: Rediscover the Serengeti the treasures for two days, indulging in both morning and afternoon game viewing in this vast, sun-drenched region. Rivers flow through the park, providing habitats for a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles, while antelope can be seen feeding on the plains. Search for Africa’s iconic Big Five, (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and Cape buffalo) as well as the lesser-known but fascinating Little Five (ant lion, leopard tortoise, elephant shrew, rhinoceros beetle and buffalo weaver), which may be hiding behind a stone or resting on an acacia branch. Return to your camp each day beneath a golden sunset.
