What To Expect
Damajagua Waterfalls
We offer a time of hiking through thick forests, crossing bridges and discovering the Dominican flora, before reaching the rocky top of a hill from where you will begin your journey down, jumping or sliding down a series of waterfalls. Safety gear is a must as you slide down padded water slides, or jump into deep turquoise pools. The way from the tour station to the waterfalls is 40 minutes, we offer a tour of the 7 main puddles so that they have an unforgettable and not so exhausting experience, children must be 8 years old or older to be able to do those 7 puddles of otherwise they could only walk the 40 minutes and stay in the first.

5.00Amazing coordination and assistance when needed even when ship was late. One family member had a knee injury and still they helped constantly. My husband lost his glasses at the bottom of the waterfalls and one of the guides dived 32 feet to get it. They just went above and beyond.

5.00This experience was incredible. The best thing to do if you are in the Puerto Plata area. This was an incredible bargain for the price, as it includes transportation to and from the port, the waterfalls themselves, and lunch. We had such an amazing time. We also felt so comfortable and safe through it all. We were in good hands, from the driving and to the touring the actually waterfall area. Would highly recommend!

4.00Somewhat difficult hike due to rocky surfaces to walk over. I would only recommend to good swimmers and adventurous people. However great service to the start point and the hike to waterfalls. The waterfall sliding was a lot of fun!

5.00Well worth it! Aribel messaged me about a week before the excursion to make sure they had the correct pick up info. Yeury then picked us up just outside of the cruise port on the day of our trip. He was wearing a green tourism shirt. Unfortunately, they are not allowed to hold up a sign with your name on it there, so may be useful to just ask a guy wearing a green shirt for yeury and aribel when you exit the cruise port (if getting picked up from there). The waterfall experience was a ~25 minute drive from amber cove cruise port. We thought it was very fun! When you arrive, you can rent water shoes for $3. You then do a hike to the waterfalls through the jungle, which took about 30 minutes. Was not “easy” but was not too strenuous There are 3 or 4 assistants per a group of about 20 people. You then enter down into the waterfall canyon and the assistants help guide everyone through the falls. There were 4 falls we went down and all were fun. The 3rd one had an option to slide or jump, they let us do both and go down twice! Water was cool but refreshing after the hike. After we hiked back (very easy stroll through the jungle this time), we had lunch at the main station. It was actually quite good and had some native dominican food (the cassava root was amazing!) Yeury then took us back to the cruise port. We did stop at a butterfly garden on the way home as well which was a nice bonus 😁

3.00The waterfall tour was great. It was fun sliding down waterfalls and jumping into waterfall pools. Be aware that you can't take eye glasses or phones or cameras or anything that can't get wet with you. The leaders will hold onto your eyeglasses while you jump. You can buy photos for an astronomically high price but you must book beforehand with the names of your party at the photo desk. Random freelance photographers not associated with your tour company will try to extract your mobile number and email while you are on your tour and will ask for payment for photos which you may or may not get. Be careful. Also, bring a good pair of dual swim/hiking shoes. We had good walking shoes but we had to wear our crappy water shoes for the hike to the falls. We had sore calves for days. I'm 62 so you can do this even if you're older as long as you can walk long distances and walk up lots of stairs. They stop for breaks.

5.00When I showed up for the tour, I was the only one going. Yeury met me at the agreed time and drove me to the activity and back and introduced me to the activity guides. He told me some interesting facts about the port and the Dominican Republic. He also made sure my lunch was arranged. I felt very safe and well cared for. I would recommend this tour and especially Yeury for others to enjoy. At the activity - a high energy water event - the guides were careful to keep the group together as we progressed through the various water slide places coming down the mountain and made sure everyone was safe. They did an excellent job.

And Carlos who was our guide at the falls was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Will go again when I return. Thank you John
