After eating breakfast at your hotel, your guide will brief you on the day. In the village near Londorossi Gate, you will receive a packed lunch and can buy mineral water for the hike. Then the final 45 minutes of the drive leading up to the gate will be on a bumpy forest track requiring 4WD vehicles. At the entrance gate, the guides and porters distribute the supplies and register with the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA). You are now ready to begin your 3-hour hike into the rainforest. Be on the lookout for Colobus monkeys! Along the way, you will stop for an afternoon lunch break and arrive at Mti Mkubwa (“Big Tree”) Campsite (2750m) in the early evening. The porters, who arrive at the campsite before the clients, will set up your tent and boil water for drinking and washing. The chef will prepare a snack and then dinner for the clients. At nighttime, mountain temperatures may drop to freezing so be prepared!

After early morning breakfast, you will begin your ascent out of the rainforest and into the heather moorland zone. You will cross many streams and walk over a plateau that leads to Shira 2 Camp (3840m). At this campsite, you will be next to a stream and have a spectacular view of the Western Breach and its glaciers in the East. Similar to the first night, your tents will be set up before arriving at camp and the porters will prepare drinking and washing water for you. You will enjoy evening snacks and then dinner prepared by our chef. Be prepared for a cold night as temperatures drop below freezing at this exposed camp.

Following an early morning breakfast, you will leave the moorland environment and enter the semi-desert and rocky landscape. After 5 hours of walking east, you will become face to face with the Lava Tower (4630m). Packed lunches are served at the Tower and hikers have the option of climbing the massive Lava Tower weather permitting. At this point of the hike, it is normal for hikers to start feeling the effects of the altitude including headaches and shortness of breath. After lunch, you will descend from Lava Tower (4630m) to the Barranco Campsite (3950m). The 6800m descent gives hikers a huge advantage in allowing their bodies to adjust to the conditions of high altitude. The descent to camp takes around 2 hours to reach. It is located in a valley below the Breach and Great Barranco Wall (“Breakfast Wall”). Drinking and washing water and dinner will be served as hikers view the sunsetting.

This is a short hiking day meant for acclimatization. After early morning breakfast, it is now time to conquer the Great Barranco Wall! Although it may look intimidating at first glance, hikers state that this Class 2 hike is usually much easier than they anticipated. At the top of the Wall, you will have a view of Heim Glacier and will be above the clouds. The trail then winds up and down in the Karanga Valley. You will spend the night at Karanga Camp (3950m) and enjoy dinner and washing at the site.

After breakfast, you will begin your ascent. The trail intersects with the Mweka Route, which is the trail used to descend on the final two days. As you continue hiking for an hour, you will reach Barafu Hut. This is the last water stop for the porters because there is no accessible water at Barafu Camp (4550m). The word “barafu” in Swahili means “ice” and this camp is located on a rocky, exposed ridge. Tents will be exposed to wind and rocks so it is important for hikers to familiarize themselves with the campsite before dark. An early dinner will be served so hikers can rest before attempting the summit the same night. Your guide will brief you in detail on how to prepare for summit night. Get to sleep by 19:00!

It is dark and cold as you set off just after midnight. You will climb the frozen volcanic dust by headlamp going towards Stella Point on the crater rim – about six hours. The sun should be rising when you arrive here. Just an hour or two more and you will be standing on the highest point of the crater: Uhuru peak. On top of the world! Take a short break for pictures and celebratory hugs before you tackle the steep and dusty descent. By now the volcanic ash will have thawed… You will stop for a short tea break at Barafu and then continue downhill for about three hours to Mweka camp (3080m). This is your overnight stop. Refuel by drinking lots of fluids and have a good helping at supper time.

Well done!

From the minute Evarist what’s apped me back I knew it was the right operator for me. Promptly replied to all my concerns and filled me with confidence that I chose Kilimanjaro heroes adventures. We were supposed to be doing the trek first and then the safari, however, through no fault of KHA our luggage didn’t arrive at Kilimanjaro airport. We were distraught, however, after a long conversation with Evarist late at night he organised the safari first. Gladly our baggage arrived and we were able to use our own luggage to complete the 8 day lemosho trip. We were fed well by our chef, porters were great and our experienced guides kept us informed of what they expected from us and expertly prepared us to complete the summit of Kilimanjaro safely. Would definitely recommend them to family and friends.

I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route on a private tour with Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures. The team was small and professional: 1 guide, 1 cook, and 5 porters. Summit night was on February 5, and I successfully reached Uhuru Peak. Highlights: • Very experienced and caring guide • Private support and flexible pace • Good acclimatization on the Lemosho route • Fresh and tasty food every day • Safe and successful summit experience Everything was well organized from start to finish. I felt safe, supported, and comfortable during the whole climb. Highly recommended for a private Kilimanjaro climb.

We had an incredible experience with our guides and support group. I honestly feel that we would not have reached the summit without their dedication and professionalism. Everything was carefully planned. Wenci and Maulid, our guides, were there to assist us every step of the way. Our cook, Boko, prepared excellent meals throughout the trek. Everyone on our team was extremely helpful. If I had to make this trek again, I would go with Kilimanjaro Heroes. The whole experience exceeded our expectations.

Life changing experience. Jambo rafiki I contacted Evarist and organized an 8 day lemosho route Kili climb. Our guides were Wency and Maulid. Our cook was Boko And the porters were: Frankie, Ibrahim, Alfeus, Maliki, Eric, Calvin, Junior and Peter These guys made us feel at home, we built a nice friendship, Boko always had great tasting warm food at camp and the strong young fellows helped us get up to Kili. Our guides showed leadership and guidance. Recommended 100% Get the toilet and bring a bed Mat with you. It will be cold at nights.

Together with 6 friends, we have been hiking the 7-day Lemosho route towards the summit of Kilimanjaro. The first contact we had with owner Evarist was really professional and the full crew including guides Mwyni, Calvin and Gloria have really over achieved our expectations. The crew was extremely helpfull, the food served by chef Salum during the day was delicious, and the camp spots were amazing. Everything was possible in good discussion. Also we experienced the company to take good care of the porters! If you are looking for a professional and personal agency, look no further and choose for Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures. Also possible to combine with Safari like we did to make the holiday even more amazing!

I can’t praise these guys enough—they truly saved the day. The trip started off badly when the airline lost my bag with nearly everything I needed, but they came to the rescue and generously let me borrow so much kit. As for the team, the guide Paramba made the trip everything I had hoped for. He knew exactly how to look after me and always checked in to make sure I was okay to keep going. The rest of the team made me feel completely at home; despite the occasional language barrier, I never once felt uncomfortable. These guys are a real inspiration and without a doubt the hardest-working people I’ve ever come across. If you are debating whether to go with these guys or not my advice would be to definitely go with this company as they are local people and their experience is second to none 👍

If you looking for a company to use to climb Kilimanjaro. Then look at using Kilimanjaro hereos. We done lots of research before we went. From two years in the planning. My wife was 60 on the climb and we had a great experience from the team. Especially once your on the summit. Big thanks to Ciza - Frederick - Numa ( Mamma 😂 ) Joshua and the rest of the team & porters. They worked so hard & not sure how these guys carry all that stuff up the mountain, for when you get to the next camp base, tent made up kit in tent and dinner on its way 👏 this trip is a once in a lifetime experience for us and we had no regrets using kili hereos Ciza hope you can show this to the team and pass on our thanks again. You have Got good team there and all the best for the future climbs. Our legs are still aching but think that’s our age showing now . All the best Mick & Sharon ( Baby Queen ) Hi Everist hope you read this and again great organization. Keep up the good work 👍

I recently completed the 8-day Lemosho route to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and can truly say it was the adventure of a lifetime. From the first steps through the rainforest to the final stretch to Uhuru Peak, every day brought stunning landscapes and unique experiences. The itinerary was well-paced, allowing time to acclimatize and enjoy the surroundings. I want to give special thanks to our two guides, Emanuel Mchome and Gasper Apoline Shayo, whose professionalism, dedication, and encouragement made all the difference. They were knowledgeable and attentive to every detail, ensuring our safety and comfort at all times. Their positive attitude and personal support motivated me and my group to reach our goals, even when the going got tough. Thanks to their expertise, we all made it to the summit and back down safely. I highly recommend the Lemosho route and especially the guiding team for anyone looking to conquer Kilimanjaro. This trek was an unforgettable challenge and achievement – thank you for making it so memorable! Arthur Imamkhan

Because these experiences also need to be mentioned here... So no, I did not make it; but my Partner well did ! And either way, the family was here. Because that what Kili Heroes is : your family since the time you arrive 'till the time you are safe back from the mountain. Thank you Emmanuel and David for welcoming us, being our guides (in and out of the mountain), checking on our vitals and adapting the pace and schedule to what was needed by each of us; Thank you Kurwa, Mti Chef Cooker, for all your delicious meals (keeping the surprise for the others), ginger lemon teas, home made chips, etc... and your permanent smile :-) Thank you Charles, for all your kind attentions making sure we had all that we needed; Thank you all kili fighters, Awesh (Woman, you impress me!), Jackson (I'm still waiting for the moves..), Emmanuel, Arody, Omary, Nelson, David (I still don't know how you manage to carry my such heavy bag), and you as well Essaya and Adam - who made my/our climb more comfortable. We would have never been able to climb without you all. BABA. There is the Kilimanjaro summit and there is all of you - who made this journey incredible for both of us. I will of course regret not having been able to make it to the top but as you said "Health matters!" and when the MAM kicks in like it did with me... no much to be done but to go down. I just needed to realise it and accept it. Looking forward to see you all again one day, and maybe reach the top this time !
