Located near the Negombo Fort, this vibrant fish market is one of the largest in Sri Lanka and a bustling hub of activity, especially in the early morning. You can see fishermen bringing in their catch as early as 4:00 am. The market is famous for its fresh shrimp, crabs, and lobsters from the Negombo Lagoon, and large fish from the Indian Ocean.

Negombo, influenced by the Christian faith since the Portuguese occupation, is often called "Little Rome" due to its many churches. Among them, St. Mary's Church stands out. The project safeguards nesting sites and helps conserve Loggerhead, Green, Hawksbill, Olive Ridley, and Leatherback turtles. Remember, in nature, it's possible not to see any turtles.
