What To Expect
Medenine
Medenine is the prefecture of the region, a governorate, which Djerba also depends on. With its Ksour and Ghorfas, these semicylindrical storehouses, whose early constructions date back to the 17th century, Medenine is also the starting point for visiting the region.
Ksar Ghilane
The most southern of Tunisian oases Ksar Ghilane is one of the doors of the desert of the Tunisian Sahara, the oasis is fed by a source of hot water, source from a failed oil drilling in 1953, instead of finding oil the drillers found a captive water table 700 m deep. The water flows to the surface at 32 °, it is very sulfur, you can swim there, it would have thermal virtues. You can also do a camel ride or quad.

1.00Unfortunately, it has to be said that this tour was a bust. Unfortunately, Ksar Ghilane was totally dirty with algae, only a tiny part of it is really the source. In front of it is probably something like a “swimming pond”, where not even the foil was well hidden. Until the arrival you were urged several times by the guide to book either a quad bike tour or a camel ride at the appropriate place. And be sure to buy a headgear. Our rejection was only reluctantly accepted. Finally, even after several previous consultations by e-mail, we were not driven to an authentic Star Wars location (organizer replied with pictures of the Hotel Sidi idris) but to a Berber village in which similar buildings are located. These were then sold to us as an authentic Star Wars location. Listed in the various sources, this place is certainly nowhere. Apart from the fact that the sales ad at Check24 is equipped with backdrops from Tozur (about 450km from Djerba, confirmed even by the organizer). This tour had absolutely nothing to do with Star Wars. After consultation with the guide you were put off it was all the same.

5.00A little long road on a day, but very nice discovery. Desert in camel top, change of scenery assured. Typical lunch, discovery of the oasis, cave dwellings, museum stars wars. Beautiful landscapes during the excursion. On the other hand negotiated the price,.even with the hotel.

4.00Initially we had a problem where on the booked day they didn't turn up, so initial communication was poor. How ever we did re-book for the following day. Out guide 'Hamess' was brilliant. The tour was really great and interesting. The ride over the Atlas mountains was an added bonus. There is a lot of driving and is a very long day but has made our trip special!!!

2.00The time to ride a camel 10.30 is already very hot and it is horrible for those who do not withstand much heat .And see what insurance these companies have for accidents....

4.00A week of tranquility and calm! Hotel not too big, large, welcoming and comfortable room. Pleasant, friendly and dedicated staff, family atmosphere, simple but sufficient catering and quite varied. Premises and gardens maintained and clean on a daily basis. 2nd swimming pool away for peace and quiet. In short, a 3* (cheap) for lovers of simplicity, who don't worry and like to let themselves "live" according to the softness and charms of this island.

5.00After passing through a few villages and taking the Roman road a total change of scenery , multiple stops by our guide driver to immortalize these landscapes without forgetting much appreciated explanations about the history. Arrival in Ksar Ghilane with this huge, beautiful and calm Sahara Sea A short camel ride in the desert and then relax in the hot springs ( 38 degrees) and to finish the morning a very good couscous. On the way back visit the starwars site (where Skywalker was small) without forgetting the view The salt lake. A day full of new discoveries. Thank youiii to our driver-guide Makhouf without whom this day would not have been so rewarding

5.00Take a 4x4 for the day with the crossing of the Roman road for a day in KSAR GHILAINE. Arrival there 3/4 hour quad bike to go see the ancient ROMAN fort, guaranteed feeling in the middle of the dunes of ochre sands. Then take a camel ride to finish relaxing in the hot springs. A delicious djerbi meal awaits you with soup,brick,couscous... Back through an old breadbasket. I recommend
