Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery
Your visit will start with a short film in the auditorium, followed by a chance to explore the heritage centre and discover more about the remarkable history of John Dewar & Sons. This part of your visit is self guided with the aid of audio guides/ipads, available in various languages. Your experienced tour guide will then take you on a tour of the Aberfeldy Distillery and warehouse so you can learn more about the whisky making magic! The tour ends with a wee dram in the whisky lounge for adults / seniors. Drivers can request a take-away pack to create a Maime Taylor cocktail at home. Your ticket does not include transport to/from the distillery. The distillery is located on the outskirts of picturesque Aberfeldy, nestled on the banks of the River Tay, 20 mins from the A9 in Highland Perthshire, 90 minutes from Edinburgh. Free parking. Additional tastings and whisky cocktails are available at the bar. You can browse the shop showcasing the full Dewar's portfolio along with exclusive limited edition single cask bottlings and fill your own bottle with a specially selected cask of Aberfeldy Single Malt. Tours take place throughout the day, present your voucher on arrival. Please note, last tour is 1 hour prior to closing, however we recommend allowing 1.5 hours for your visit. There is a cafe onsite, however your ticket does not include food - booking is not essential for the cafe. As a traditional working distillery, visitors must wear sensible footwear on the distillery tour (no high heels or open toed shoes permitted). Unfortunately dogs (except assistance dogs) are not permitted in the visitor centre or distillery. The visitor centre and heritage centre is fully accessible, however due to the historical nature of the distillery building, the tour can be adapted for less mobile visitors. Dewar's Aberfeldy distillery tour was very good. Attended with teenagers who also found it interesting. Our guide Jim was very good, making the facts interesting and engaging the whole group. The cask room offered an extra 'cask tasting' which my partner opted into and got a souvenir glass to keep as well as sampling some very fine whisky. The tasting room and the ipad room just before were brilliant. Good value for money and received a discount on whisky purchased that day which is a bonus. First class tour and many thanks to Jim (or was it Matthew?!) our host.

A great way to spend a couple of hours learning the history of this distillery, learning how whiskey is made and sampling a wee dram or two. Really interesting and a great cafe associated with it which was surprisingly good value for money.

Despite not being a whisky drinker, (and with no desire to try), I have visited a few distilleries as I find the process and history of interest. Returning to this area for the first time in 25 years, Dewars was the only one I wanted to revisit. Dewars stood out in my memory as having a really interesting museum, and I wasn't disappointed on my return. The visitor centre has obviously been updated significantly since my last visit, and there is a very comfortable cafe and bar. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. The tour takes 90 minutes, starting with a 10 minute video and a quick look round the museum before meeting our guide for the distillery tour. I was pleased to be reassured that we could return to the museum at the end of the tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and clearly explained each part of the whisky making process. The tour finished with a tasting of 2 whiskies. The first was their 12 year old malt, but we all completed a survey on an ipad to determine the right whisky for our second taste. An update since our last visit - you can book a drivers ticket, and bottle up your samples to take away, also ideal for those of us who don't drink whisky! After a relaxed lunch in the cafe, we returned to finish looking round the museum. All in all, a very interesting day out, and very good value.

We scheduled the very first tour of the day, and had the wonderful good fortune to have our Guide Jim to ourselves. We asked a million questions, and he had a million answers! I don't think we could have learned more on any other whiskey tour. This distillery is rich with history and education, and Dewars has laid their tour out to bring the two together in the most spectacular manner. We were absolutely captivated at every turn. This was a top highlight of our two weeks in Scotland. Thankyou Jim!!
