The guides were brilliant. The hike and views are amazing and worth it! Thee food and sleep conditions are not great and apart from the cabin you sleep in there is no shelter outside when it rains. Other campsites do have shelter.

Luis and alex were amazing tour guides!!! Our porters were incredible, eric was mine and he did an amazing job going up the mountain. We went with a group of 16 so we had a private tour— this was perfect for a private experience where you’re okay sharing with people you know. The volcano was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! Hike was very hard but so rewarding. Fuego was stunning but the view from base camp was amazing so most of us stayed and played music and danced. It was lovely and Luis was a great host. - The food is very basic and for nutrition so definitely bring snacks if you want options. - bring energy bars/goos and protein bars - breakfast is pancakes and coffee/tea which is great - PACK LAYERS!!!!!!! It’s freezing at the top and bring rain/extra clothes in case the weather goes sideways. It’s very cold especially at night so you need to be prepared! - expect camping. This is not a hotel or cabin, you’re on top of a volcano at 14000ft (3900meters) so prepare for that. The accommodations are camping-esque. - get a porter they are life saving. Even if you’re an extremely experienced and fit hiker (we all were) it is very necessary and helpful. - TIP WELL. These men and women work so hard and are lovely. Please bring cash and be prepared to tip them generously. The guides and the views were the best part of all of this. They made our experience so outstanding!!

This was one of the most life changing hikes I have ever done and the company is great with taking care of the groups pace through breaks and ensuring everyone is great feeling .I highly recommend the Fuego hike although it can be a little bit more challenging the views and feeling are once in a life time ! I did this trip solo but met many great people along the way

Save yourself a headache and book with another company. They will not accommodate you under any circumstances. My luggage got lost, and I asked to refund the hike since I don’t have the gear and they didn’t carry the appropriate sizes of gear either. They didn’t care. No extenuating circumstances will make this company care for their customers.

The actual hike is a must do, but this operator is one of the worst tour companies I have ever used anywhere in the world (second place behind a company I used for an overnight volcano hike in another country). Rental gear is not as advertised (‘warm coat’ is more of a shell - bring your own so you’re not freezing) and some people could not find things in the right size. Folks had to fight with the tour company to get refunds when this happened. The operator created a WhatsApp group for everyone on the tour the day before, which caused a big of chaos because they wanted everyone to send their passport info to the public group and weren’t accepting private messages. Many people were uncomfortable with this. Once we were on the hike, there was virtually no communication from the guides about what the gameplan was (mealtimes, how far we were from the camp, etc.). Break frequency was good. Operator tried to make everyone pay an additional 10Q to use the ‘private’ route instead of the ‘public’ route because it would be less crowded. Not sure if this was a real thing - no one paid it. Didn’t do Fuego, but the group that did didn’t see anything because the conditions were bad. Before they left, guides said the chances of seeing Fuego were ‘50/50’. Would recommend using your own judgement because I didn’t get the sense that they were providing honest odds. Finally, the sunrise hike happened at like 4 am. But this was never communicated to the whole group once we got to camp so I missed it. Overall, just a bad tour company. Would absolutely recommend doing the hike, just not with this group.

Overall, it was a unique experience that we will never forget. Hiking is harder than expected for sure. You need to be physically and mentally prepared to hike for 6 hours straight uphill to the base camp. There is an option to prolong the hiking if you are planning to go to el fuego volcano that will take an additional 4 hours there and back. My recommendation is to stay at the base camp and admire the view and volcan de fuego from there. We witnessed extreme exhaustion from our peers who decided to continue to volcan de fuego. They were not back at camp until 10pm which does not give you quality time to appreciate the hiking overall. Best choice is to rest after arriving at base camp and head to the summit in the morning. The tour guides were great, however, they wont tell you how hard volcan de fuego truly is because there is an additional charge of 250 Quetzales that you will have to pay on the spot in cash with a separate tour guide folks. Please bring toilet paper, snacks, sanitizer, face mask, and medication for altitude sickness. You can bring water but buy on the way up as well.

The actual hike, views, and experience were memorable. However, the company organizing was sub par. Very disorganized from picking us up at the meet up spot, to distribution of food, and more. At the last minute, they raised the price to hike up Fuego even tho the brochure they sent us had a different price. Once we got to base camp, you could tell we were in the “lesser” accommodations compared to other base camp structures.
