We booked a trip to Quiçama National Park with Vantour on a very short notice - less than 24 hours in advance. Communication was prompt, and we knew from the get-go that everything was going to go smoothly. In the morning, our crew (Vez and Tiago) showed up at the promised time on the dot to pick us up, and we got going. On the long drive to the national park, we had plenty of time to talk (especially to Vez, whose English is excellent), learn something about Angola's history, and hear what we had planned for the day. Since Tiago was feeling unwell, Vez did double duty of driving and entertaining us, and he did so amazingly and with a great sense of humor, such as referring to driving along a bumpy road as receiving an "African massage". Unfortunately, we were a little unlucky at Quiçama National Park itself because the animals seem to have been a little shy that day - while we saw impalas and some kind of deer the name of which I forgot, the bigger, more spectacular animals such as zebras, elephants, and giraffes eluded us. However, we are fully aware that this is how safaris into an animal's natural habitat go - sometimes you will not see them. After leaving Quiçama, we set off on our return journey to Luanda, during which we stopped to watch a family of monkeys, the gorgeous Miradouro da Lua (Moon Viewpoint), and the Slavery Museum. Vez and Tiago even tried to accommodate a special wish of mine, even if they could not fulfill it in the end. At the end of the day, we arrived back at our hotel one and a half hours later than intended even though we skipped dinner, which I take as a good sign because it means our crew took the time to do the entire schedule with us without ever giving us the feeling that we needed to hurry. In summary, we can wholeheartedly recommend the Quiçama National Park trip with Vantour - as long as you are aware of the fact that there is no guarantee for you to see every animal that lives in the park.

When I booked the tour I was expecting to join a group, but it turned into a private tour, as there were no other tourists. The tour company was very professional and attentive, since the contact through WhatsApp until the whole tour at the end of the day. They picked me up at my place and let me also there. We went also to two other places which were not exactly part of the tour, but we’re very interesting, the Slavery Museum and Luanda Island, where I had dinner. They spent the whole day with me. Regarding the operator, I fully recommend them. About the tour itself, it is a nice tour if you want to have a slightly taste of a safari, but I confess that I was expecting more. I was maybe unlucky as there were not much animals during my visit, despite I was able to see elephants. Also, after entering the Quiçama park, it is necessary to face a 39km dirt road which is quite unpleasant. The Moon Viewpoint was very beautiful.
