I visited the Caves of Charco Azul since I was in high school in 1984, studied Biology and practiced caving since 1996. As a cavers I will provide you with the equipment required for cave exploration and as a biologist, I will raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment by making your experience a memorable adventure.

If you have your own transportation, this is the adventure you are looking for. We will meet at a set point and, in your own car, you will follow the guide to a private property where we will leave the vehicles. There, you will be given the necessary protective equipment (helmet, lamps and lifeguards) for exploring caves, allowing you to feel like a cavers ready for adventure. Certified biologists or guides will offer you an educational experience, explaining the importance of the area, cave formation, forest fauna and flora, and showing petroglyphs that evidence the ancestral presence of Tainos. You will visit the Arenal Caves, where you can swim in a small canyon formed by the passage of water. If you’re looking for adrenaline, you’ll have the option to jump into the water and enter the underground world of the Blue Puddle Caves, where you can enjoy a waterfall and limestone rock formations inside the cave. At the end of the activity, you can continue with your day visiting the beaches of the area and savoring Puerto Rican cuisine.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure that blends nature, culture and a touch of adrenaline this excursion is an absolute must. From start to finish, the experience was incredibly well organized .Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and clearly passionate about the area , sharing fascinating insights about the geology, history and local legends that made the journey even more engaging . The excursion never felt rushed, and there was plenty of time to enjoy each stop.I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the island. Thank you Rafael, you are the best!!!!

Albert and Eric were amazing tour guides! I was unsure about the experience going in because we had never done anything like this before, but our family of four had a blast. Both tour guides made us incredibly comfortable, never pushing us beyond our comfort level, and were extremely knowledgeable on native flora, history, and science. I give this tour a 10/10. Our daughters are 9 and 13, and they equally enjoyed the experience. For the first 3 hours, we felt like we were the only ones exploring the caves.

This adventure is an experience like no other. Albert was phenomenal all the way through. You get to become one with nature and learn about not only the wildlife but the culture as well.

Amazing tour! We had a great time & learned a lot! Professionally guided with safety, respect of the ecology, and Taíno traditions (petroglyphs) emphasized. Of course it was also thrilling with jumping from a high rock to scrambling over rocks in the dark cave as pictured. Glad we read that sturdy shoes were important. Highly recommended!

We had a great time! Our kids are 11, 9, and 7 and able to complete everything. Our 7 and 9 year old needed help getting over some parts but it was totally doable. Water is chilly but still a good time! Enrique was great!

If you are looking for a real nature tour, but you don’t want to feel like a tourist, this is your tour. Albert is amazing. We learned a lot and loved his genuine enthusiasm. What a great experience and so glad we chose this tour with Albert!

I've gone on this trip with Albert twice, and it was just as good the second time as the first!! This tour has something for everyone -- hiking, swimming, wading, caving, climbing, adventure -- and is easily doable for various levels of fitness. Albert is a must-have-guide. The water and cave part of this tour includes swimming (with life jackets) through a small canyon with rock walls, jumping into the river from the top of the cave (optional -- if you're not a fan of jumping, there's an alternate route), climbing up into caves to see stalagmites and stalactites (and bats!). There are waterfalls and lush, beautiful scenery the entire way. Albert peppered our time with him with information about the flora and fauna. We appreciated how much he seemed to enjoy sharing this experience with us. Hear a bird in the forest? Albert does too, and can tell you what it is and something interesting about it. See a beautiful flower? Albert did too, and can tell you what it's used for or what group of people find meaning in it. Albert finds the bugs and frogs and flowers and plants and trees and shares a tidbit about each. Not too much information, but enough to keep the conversation going. But that is not the focus of this tour, it is just what happens naturally on the way to and from the river where the caves are. Albert is excellent about checking in about pace, the vibe of the group, and goes with the flow. He is easy to be with -- we combined this tour with his Bats and Boas tour, and it made for a really fun day. The next day, we went to El Yunque rainforest on our own, and we found ourselves missing Albert's insights -- we knew we were passing up all kinds of wildlife and nature that he would have been pointing out to us. Highly recommend this tour, specifically with Albert as your guide!!

Me and my wife had a great trip. Very cool things to see, little hiking nothing not almost all could do. Guide was great and people on the trip were great to spend the day with. Recommend to anyone that wants to see great sight and natural settings.

Everyone in our group absolutely loved this tour. We are 5 friends in our 50 and 60s. The cave and canyon are unique and beautiful. Our tour guide Albert was informative, patient and so funny. He made this an experience we will not forget. I can’t recommend this enough.
