Start with a hotel pick up to the port of Piraeus, then a great boat ride enjoying the views from the ferry's decks. Explore this pine green island with your private driver/guide and with full flexibility that a private tour offers. A relaxing island in the Saronic Gulf facing Athens with small fishing villages, and a "swimming pool like" water.

Aegina Waterfront

Aegina is a lovely island in close distance to Athens. This is why it gets very popular as a weekend destination for the Athenians. The most popular tourist places is Agia Marina, Souvala and Marathon with relaxing beaches, while very nice is also the seaside village of Perdika. The most important sight in Aegina Greece is the Ancient Temple of Athena Aphaia, constructed in the 6th century BC.

Temple of Aphaia

The Temple of Aphaia is one of the major attractions that one can see on the island of Aegina. Built on a hill, at 160 meters, it is surrounded by pine trees and it stands out for its unique energy. Since prehistoric times (1300 B.C.) it has been a unique place of worship!

Our family had a wonderful time in Aegina!! Our tour guide Panos was absolutely hilarious, no other way to put it. He elevated our experience to another level with his greatly appreciated commentary. We saw a diverse range of sites at a perfect pace and received a lovely lunch recommendation from Panos. Beautiful landscapes and views, divine pistachio ice cream, highly recommend. Thanks!!

  • Must visit! Wonderfully preserved temple that even Athenians don't know about!

We have visited multiple temples in Greece. The Parthenon atop the Acropolis, the Temple of Hephaistos next to the ancient Agora in Athens, and the temple of Poseidon in Sounion are but the highlights. The Temple of Concordia, in Agrigento Sicily by the way is another wonder and is still on my bucket list. But what a pleasant surprise this temple on Aigina was. Firstly, it only took a 1-hour and 15 minute ferry ride to get to the island from Pireus. Then no more than 20 minutes to drive and visit the Cathedral of St. Nektarios and another short drive to the Temple of Athina. Mind you, we went in October so there wasn't so much traffic and tourism and the weather was just right. Driving to St. Nektarios was easy and the visit itself was quick. The facilities are well kept. Check out the grounds and the garden areas. Beautiful. Please be mindful that women need to wear trousers or a long skirt. If you don't have one, there are some long make-shift skirts that you can wear over your shorts in front of the entrance at the cathedral. Following a visit to the cathedral, it only takes another 10 minutes or so to drive the temple of Athina. In October you are sure to find a place to park in front of the grounds entrance. Tourist buses may take up lots of space so just be prepared to park further down the road during the busy season. But on this particular visit we had the whole place to ourselves. The grounds have been renovated to offer better access to the public. And I must say, that the temple itself is equally very well preserved. Oh, and the view is simply stunning! Our ancient forefathers surely knew how to pick the best spots! Take some time to soak it all in. There is the quiet of nature to be heard. Simply delightful. And on this occasion, I am glad I didn't make too much fuss for not having visited the Acropolis because the Temple of Athina was a first for me and certainly didn't disappoint!

First class service from booking to tour experience. Panayiotis was an amazing tour leader to Aegina island! We were picked up by a private car and taken to a ferry to Aegina. Once we departed the ferry, the car was waiting for us, and we had a private tour to the Saint Nectarous monastery, Aphena ruins, and an exceptional lunch on the bay. We felt like a king and queen all day. Would definitely recommend for the experience. We also had our luggage lost for three days and Nikos the owner ensured we had a private car to take us the next day to obtain our luggage from Athens airport with Theo who was exceptional as well. We were treated like royalty on the way back with a mini car tour or Athens.

This is a great tour if you want to break away from Athens for one day. It's a quick ferry ride to Aegina with plenty there to do for a few hours. Nikos picked us up from our hotel and took us to the ferry. He drove his car onto the ferry so we had transportation all day on the island and back to our hotel. It's a lovely way to see The Temple of Aphaea, shop, see the monastery and enjoy some beach time.
