At first i was a bit scared to go to this area alone because it’s a township, but he came to pick me up and from that moment i felt safe and the workshop was really fun! It’s nice to learn about how he works and showed me around the rest of the town. There are other artists who make amazing things. So if you love art it is a great way to explore africa!

We took this tour based on the 2024 review in the New York Times ("36 Hours in Cape Town.") Mr. Mnapu is warm and personable and proud to introduce tourists to his community in Langa. I wouldn't call this only an "art" tour. In addition to seeing street art, including Mr. Mnapu's award-winning mural, Mr. Mnapu's and community artists' workshops, and a small gallery, we also visited two community centers, an African drumming workshop (we drummed, too), and a community garden, and learned about Langa's history. This is a glimpse away from the tourist side of Cape Town that will give you a little insight into the challenges black South Africans face, as well as admiration for the resilience and hope that Tozamile and his community exhibit. You can also purchase arts and crafts made in Langa. Visiting a township may not be for every tourist; but, if you want an authentic experience with a warm and talented South African, this tour is for you!

The whole experience was amazing! We got a short tour and just learning about the Langa township was truly moving. The art part of the excursion was great, I learned some new skills and was able to talk to the guide about social issues going on in Cape Town and in the States. I definitely recommend doing this excursion.

I just did the 3-hour art workshop with Tozamile and loved it! Toza is super-talented and very nice, you'll have a great time and he will guide you to create your own art piece, with the level of autonomy you wish. I am really happy with the result :) He is also very engaged for his community, organizing activities for the youth, and his studio is part of a larger centre where the art and craft of several local artists (including his) are displayed and can be purchased. Thanks a lot Toza! Go and support this awesome guy and his small business :)
