During this immersive experience, we’ll explore Lisbon’s vibrant neighborhoods to discover the diverse flavors of the African Diaspora. Starting at our meeting point, we’ll introduce Lisbon’s unique cultural blend, then embark on a guided food tour, tasting dishes from 3-4 African-owned and African-inspired eateries. Each stop features handpicked delicacies, with insight about the owners journeys, giving insight into their heritage and culinary journey.
Along the way, we'll engage in conversations about Lisbon's Afro-Portuguese history, landmarks, and vibrant community ties, creating a welcoming space for connection and cultural appreciation. We’ll end our journey on Green Street, where we’ll say our goodbyes while celebrating the flavors and fellowship we've enjoyed. This tour offers rare access to hidden gems and authentic insights guests wouldn’t likely discover on their own, making it a unique journey through Lisbon’s rich, Diasporic tapestry.

What To Expect
Lisbon
Join us for a 3-hour walking food tour through Lisbon, sampling dishes from African-owned restaurants and learning about their rich cultural significance. Expect to walk a lot with some uphill and downhill paths, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Please note that the tour is generally unsuitable for those with gluten intolerances or nut allergies, but suitable for vegetarians and meat eaters. Bring your appetite for a flavorful journey!

5.00This tour was a highlight of our experience in Lisbon. It was thoughtfully curated, reflecting the relationships that Kam and her team have built in the area/region. We were able to benefit formt he many connections she has made in Lisbon. The food was outstanding, learning more about the culture through food was insightful and overall, the tour was exceptional. We felt like we were among family and truly enjoyed learning about local businesses. I would not hesitate to book this tour. For those who may be worried about walking for 3+ hours, it was not a heavy lift. The tour keeps the infamous Lisbon hills in mind and we never felt overly exerted. Many thanks to Kam and her team for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

5.00Kam is an absolutely fantastic guide through Afro-Portuguese food and history. The restaurants we visited all had a warm, friendly vibe and excellent service. The dishes were delicious, unique and representative of various diasporic nationalities and cultures. If you want to experience Portugal through the lens of the diaspora, this is absolutely the way to go. Worth every penny and more. I recommend doing this early in your trip to tap into Kam’s fountain of local knowledge. For me, it was the perfect culmination of my first visit to Lisbon.

5.00The African food tour was a peak Lisbon experience for my wife and me. Cam, our guide, was knowledgeable, personable, and fun. She engaged the group with interesting anecdotes and historical context. We made four stops in fascinating neighborhoods where we enjoyed amazing food and drink - dishes that we never could never found on our own. The food tour also viscerally demonstrated the ways in which sharing food builds community – we made friends with everyone on the tour. We highly recommend this tour!
