Any experience through Viator should be thought twice about. They don’t honor their price guarantee and try everything to avoid honoring it. I talked to the operator of this particular experience, and they both offered the exact same thing, but Viator charges twice the price for it, and their price guarantee is a lie. So do yourself a favor and go book through a direct vendor and do not rely on Viator. There are better more reliable platforms.

Paid extra for the night tour, was supposed to be smaller groups and said we would have access to places others wouldn’t. The boat had way more than the guaranteed 100 people and there were 200 people already on the island when we arrived. The ticket is so expensive and there is nothing special about this tour. We did not get any inside access that was promised and it was a complete rip off. I was so gravely disappointed truly.

Fascinating facts on the audio tour. Great views of the Golden Gate, Bay Bridge, and San Francisco skyline. Steeps hills if walking but there is a tram. So glad we went!

Great time. Definitely recommend! Price was affordable. Took my wife and I about 2-2.5 hours to explore the island and do the audio tour of the prison.

Everything ran very smoothly got to the front of the line, no worry about getting tickets. Tour was great, had a special tour from a volunteer she showed us the gardens they are working on

This was such an amazing experience- you have to do the audio tour portion. Bring your good walking shoes, there’s a a lot of ground to cover. They do have options for people with mobility issues (carts to take you around the island). The history is rich in both events that happened in the prison and the Native American peaceful protest that occurred after the prison closure. Very very cool!

Honestly, the Alcatraz tour wasn’t worth the price. We paid extra thinking we were getting something special, but it turns out all the tours include the same audio guide and content. The island itself is interesting, but for what we paid, we expected more than just what everyone else gets. Definitely not worth the upgrade

A must visit site in SF. You can take boat to the island and visit Alcatraz in about 2 hours, with an audio tour.
