Stones from the ruins of the ancient structures were reused for residential construction of the agricultural village of Rockstone Pond in modern times, but the ancient site did not come to the attention of archeologists until 1963. The Old Northern Highway connects Altun Ha to Belize's Northern Highway, and the site is accessible for tourism. The largest of Altun Ha's temple-pyramids, the "Temple of the Masonry Altars", is 16 metres (52 ft) high. A drawing of this structure is the logo of Belize's leading brand of beer, "Belikin".
At the ATV site Your guides will gear you with safety equipment and give you a thorough introduction on how to use the ATV safely inside the rainforest. Your total tour time on the ATV adventure is roughly 1 to 1.5 hours. After your adventure you head to the village of Rock Stone Pond nearby, home to Altun Ha Maya Temples.

What To Expect
Pick it’s at 8 am from hotel, Airbnb, water taxi is at 7:30 am or 8:30 am, Belize city municipal is at 7:15 am or 8:15 am, cruise ship it’s based on arrival time. It’s an hour drive to Altun ha, the tour takes another hour, after we drive to the atv site and spend an hour riding the atvs, after atv we then drive back an hour back to the city. Lunch will be in between.

4.00It was just my party of three (3). Luis was our tour guide for the Altun Ha temples. On our way to the temples, Luis spoke about the country and history. He was very knowledgeable about the temples. He was very patience and kept checking to make sure I was OK as I was the oldest and most of out of shape. The ATV was nice. We rode through their farm. That guide talked about the different plants, fruit trees and the wild animals in the area. Tasted coco and a fruit I cannot remember. I was expecting more of a ride on the ATV but still OK. Bring sunscreen and bug spray.
