Many visitors to Lancaster seek out meaningful personal contact with the Amish community. Imagine visiting three Amish properties where our longstanding relationships allow you to become their guests during your stay. This exclusive tour is limited to 14 guests, and provides the rare opportunity to meet and talk to various Amish where they live and work. The three stops: Visit an Amish farm at milking time, go behind-the-scenes with an Amish craftsman, and then sit and chat with an Amish family right in their home.

What To Expect
Stop 1: Amish Farm When we arrive at the farm, we enter the barn to learn about the milking process firsthand. You may be surprised to learn that the Amish do not milk cows by hand. You will also discover how milk is kept cold in the bulk tank with “Amish electricity.” Other aspects of farm life may also be included. Stop 2: Amish “Cottage Industry” With the price and scarcity of farmland, many Amish have started their own small enterprises, making everything from gazebos and furniture to farm equipment and quilts. These “home businesses” have become the subject of books and articles emphasizing the balance these entrepreneurs achieve between work and family. Our visit may be to a harness or carriage maker, basket weaver, greenhouse, leather or wood worker, among others. An actual demonstration is normally a part of this fascinating stop. Stop 3: Amish Home Visit To conclude our evening, we travel scenic backroads to a distant farm in the countryside. As we step inside the house, we find that friendly conversation awaits as we sit, chat, and visit the way the Amish do, talking informally without TVs, IPhones or computers. It comes as no surprise that strangers soon become friends.

5.00I have been coming to PA for about 19 years now and this is hands down the best tour I have been on. The tour guide, Ken, was kind, knowledgeable, and personable. You can tell he knows and has a good relationship with the Amish community members. Ken was also timely and prepared. The 3 stops that we went on were outstanding! We went to a dairy farm, leather shop, and Amish home. At every stop we learned something new. I enjoyed every stop and getting to spend time with and ask different Amish community members about their lives. The price for this tour was very reasonable for how long it is and the amount stops.

3.00We loved our farm visit. The owner was very engaging. He welcomed our questions and had a tour of his farm planned out. Our 2nd tour was a metal fabricator. He was not prepared. If my husband did not engage him with questions, he would literally have had nothing to tell us. Our 3rd visit was with a retired couple. They were very nice. We enjoyed seeing their home but wish that we had seen a working family home. The wife’s brother stopped by and visited for about 15 minutes of our tour. He was very pleasant but obviously not “in character” like his sister and brother in law. Overall, we greatly appreciate all of the folks sharing their home and property with us. We were very curious about their life style and walked away a bit disappointed in the experience. We may have anticipated too much. We would encourage visitors to take the tour. Our guide, Dana, was very informative and engaging.

5.00The 3 hours flew by as Jim shared fascinating customs and history of the Amish. His warm and friendly personality, along with a corny joke or two, added to the experience. The Amish dairy farmer, leather worker and homemaker we met were most interesting and ready to answer any questions. Highly recommend you take this tour with Jim.

1.00Very unprofessional. They wouldn’t let us go on the van because we had 2 toddlers even though we got an email talking about toddlers being allowed. The van driver was going to allow us on and then one of the office members refused and told us to come to the office the next day to discuss our refund process. Today we went to the office and the owner was there and very rude and unprofessional. He seemed to have been informed about what had happened and also told me that l would not be getting my refund.

5.00We did both the VIP and the Super Saver tour. The tours buses were super nice and knew their details of the area. Of the two, the VIP was our favorite. We were able to spend some time with three different Amish families, and they were wonderful people.
