I did the tour with my son in high summer temperatures, worth it if you don't even know Amsterdam. Also right at the beginning of the trip to get an overview, as you get some tips.

We had a great time on this tour while learning the history of Amsterdam. Our guide was very knowledgeable and at times quite funny! Be aware that riding bikes in downtown Amsterdam is not a leisurely activity. One must be aware of other bike riders, cars, and pedestrians. They are everywhere! That being said, I found the tour to be exhilarating and have many great memories from this adventure. One more thing- the bikes we rode had only one hand brake and that was for the front wheel. To slow the back wheel we had to pedal backwards. This took awhile for me to get used to.
