Cyprus is all rolling hills dotted with pretty villages. On this adults-only tour, you'll see where a legend was born, visit the ruins of Kourion, venture to the village of Omodos and cap off the day with a wine tasting.
You'll dive straight into the past at Kourion, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Cyprus. Visit the Roman baths and amble into the site's centrepiece, the Greco-Roman theatre. Concerts are still held to this day. While the mosaics of the trio of excavated houses known as those of Eustolius, the Gladiators and Achilles are as impressive as when they were laid down. The 15th-century Kolossi Castle is up next.
Then, we'll head for a local lunch in a family-run taverna before visiting mountain-fringed Omodos where you'll wander around skinny cobbled streets lined with Byzantine buildings. To finish, there's a wine tasting session, where you'll learn all about sweet commandaria wine – one of the oldest varieties in the world.

We had to walk to Lidl to be picked up even though the mini bus went passed our hotel. The first stop was Aphrodite’s rock where the car park and I use that term loosely was really muddy and we were left to look at this rock for 20 minutes then it was on the Kourion which was well worth seeing. A journey to Kolossi Castle was OK but I feel the stay there was a bit long. On then to a Taverna for lunch, having read a previous review I did ask the guide if we could have a table for two but was told bluntly NO. The food was very poor not at all to our liking. The wine tasting was next and all it was really was a shop giving a taster of the wines they wanted to sell us. Free time in Omodus followed where we went to a restaurant and enjoyed a pizza !!! The best past of our trip where we had fun time with a local family.

Booked through Tui. This was a really good excursion day with variety and enough to keep you entertained for the majority. Our tour guide Cris was excellent; funny, knowledgeable and approachable. We were picked up from our hotel with several other couples and headed for Kourion first, the excavation site of an ancient town. This was my personal highlight. There are preserved mosaic floors and heating systems, as well as a theater which is used for performances to this day. Fantastic views for photos. Afterwards it was in to Kolossi Castle, which is a rebuild of an earlier castle, this one dating from the 15th century. Not a lot to see here, it's really just a shell, but good views from the top. The winery was next, found along winding roads up into the Troodos Mountains. The tasting was interesting and with variety, and this was our first introduction to the much-talked-about Commandaria sweet wine. The final stop was Omodos, a small village in the mountains, which is where we ate our meal. It was quaint and quiet, with a large monastery steeped in history. A few observations we made; - The meal in itself was nice, and we as vegetarians were catered for specifically. However we were packed into the corner of the restaurant as a whole group, making it impossible for anybody to get out to use the toilet. This would have been better with smaller tables. - Probably could have used a little less time in Omodos overall. Though it looks to have a few smaller streets off the main one, they all seem to lead to residences. - The winery was beautiful. It was a shame that as soon as the tasting, and buying, was over we had to leave. Instead of spending as much time in Omodos, it would've been lovely to have been given the option of a glass of wine of our choice, even if we had to pay for it extra, to enjoy the scenery that the winery provided.

Highly recommended after exploring much of Cyprus - this tour covered amazing historical areas with a personable, wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide - Eva. Really have to book this tour with a guide to appreciate the history, plus you will receive a personal and private and educational wine-tasting, along with a tasty lunch. All inclusive so you won't have to worry about a thing and can enjoy the ride :)
