Annaba "ex-Bone" is the fourth largest city of Algeria located on the coastline of the Mediterranean sea. It has an excellent natural port that drew the Phoenicians here some 3000 years ago. The town is most famous for the theologian and philosopher Saint Augustine who was formed in Hippo Regius, one of the most beautiful Roman Ruins of Annaba.

What To Expect

We start our visit with the vast ruins of the ancient Roman city and home to the philosopher and theologian Augustine of Hippo with its interesting museum that houses some precious statuaries, mosaics and relics.

Then we drive up to visit Basilica of the 19th century where you can see the nice combination of Moorish and Byzantine architecture, a beautiful interior design, a reliquary of Augustin's arm bone and his statue outside the church.

Such a lovely trip around Annaba with Fancyellow. Amina was a great guide - explaining all the sights and sites - we particularly enjoyed ancient Hippo and the spectacular Basilica of St Augustine. Wonderful trip that gave us an excellent insight.

Fancyellow’s Islam organised a wonderful tour of the museum, ancient Hippo, the Basilica of St Augustine and the Kasbah, before driving along the coast for beautiful views of the coastline. Our guide, Amina was very ibformative, but also funny - and she gave us a great insight into Algerian life.
