This shore excursion is a great way to discover Antiguan history and culture, with a scenic drive that takes you to a private home, a pineapple farm and ends at a beautiful white sand beach. This tour really is a great way to see the Island when in port for just one day. A true West Indian lunch and beverages are included whilst you relax on the private beach.
This can be booked by hotel guests as well, however the meeting point and drop off location are at the cruise pier.

What To Expect
St. John's
Join the most popular shore excursion, cruise lovers this this tour steeped deep in history and an amazing West Indian lunch on our private beach. St. John's is the capital and biggest city of Antigua and Barbuda, known for being the commercial center of the nation and the main cruise port of Antigua island. As you head towards St. John's you will be amazed as the white baroque towers of St. John's Cathedral come into view. You will journey through the unique Antiguan villages and head towards a private home full of history. You will enjoy the tales of this private home and the Artifacts inside from the 16th century of the first settlers who owned the land. Here you will enjoy stunning panoramic views from the house. Endemic trees and medicinal herbs are grown in the backyard and not only will your guide provide knowledge on the healing powers of these plants, but you will also enjoy a freshly brewed cup of herbal tea.
Antigua
From here we head to a local pineapple farm, here you will see the crop in full production. You will see the fruit in all of its stages of growth, and even get to enjoy it later on when you are at the beach, next our adventure contunes to Fryes Estate. At the estate you will see two of the island's oldest sugar mills, now in ruins and immensely picturesque. We can't let you forget that you're on a Caribbean island and, therefore, your next stop will be a stunning private beachfront. Here their is something for everyone, from relaxing on a lounge chair in the shade of an umbrella and enjoying the crystal blue waters to jumping in the sea. As you would expect this private beach is full of soft white sand. Families can enjoy the beach games or water sports activities while building up their hunger ready for a scrumptious West Indian lunch. Our guides make sure we offer a really amazing friendly atmosphere making you feel like a local with our steel band music.

1.00The night before the excursion I received an email from the tour operator that they weren't able to verify our ship would be in port, so they cancelled our tour. However we met several people on our ship that were going and/or had gone so obviously they were able to verify the ship was in port. Understand from them we were the lucky ones.

2.00Apart from our guide Jerry, who was very good and informative, this trip didn’t live up to expectations. A trip to a typical house was more of a house with too much junk and didn’t really tell you much. The pineapple plantation was laughable - I’ve seen bigger allotments and consisted of 2 small rows of pineapples growing. The tasting was from pineapple bought elsewhere! The trip to the beach was good and the lunch was ok, nothing great. However to charge nearly £100/person for this trip is way too much and certainly not value for money. Thought Viator was better than that.

2.00Negative experience. I booked with the fork, but when we were ordering, the owner proposed to order fixed price menus and we, since it was the first time we fell for it. Then unfortunately I felt sick, after eating only two starters, I fainted and was not even called ambulance. Then when we had to pay he made us pay full price, despite what happened. Enjoyed this excursion but disappointed in pineapple plantation.

4.00We enjoyed going to the home of island residents and seeing the interesting artifacts and lush flowers and foliage. Great scenery and beautiful beaches. We had a great lunch. Was disappointed in the pineapple plantation as there was not much to see and the only pineapple plant was in pretty bad shape. Fresh pineapple that we tasted was delicious.

4.00Alexis was a good tour guide. The beach was beautiful. The pineapple farm - not so much. There were spider holes all over the ground. One person on our tour stepped into red ants. They really should take the pineapple stop off the tour and give more time at the beach.

5.00A great day out visiting a white sandy beach where we enjoyed a wholesome meal followed by an hour’s swimming and sunbathing. Also included was a visit to a pineapple plantation. Our guide (Tenisha) and driver (Andrew) kept us very well informed of the history of Antigua and were jolly and amusing.
