You will be picked up from your hotel in Quito to begin your day tour to Antisana National Park, one of Ecuador’s most stunning natural reserves. After a short drive, we leave the busy city behind and enter a peaceful rural area where locals live from small-scale farming and traditional agriculture. As we continue along a scenic winding road, you’ll pass green pastures, barley fields, and grazing cattle, while Andean cowboys (chagras). The route offers spectacular views of the Eastern Andes, with snow-capped peaks and wide open valleys that define Ecuador’s highland beauty. Our destination, Antisana National Park, is a true paradise for birdwatchers, hikers, and nature photographers. The park protects unique Andean wildlife, including condors, caracaras, white-tailed deer, and many other species that thrive in this pristine ecosystem. It’s a perfect escape for travelers looking to experience Ecuador’s wildlife, volcanoes, and high-Andean landscapes — all just a short drive from Quito.
Antisana Condor Observatory
The Andean Condor is one of the most iconic birds and a national symbol of Ecuador. With an impressive wingspan that can reach 3.3 meters (10.8 feet), it is among the largest flying birds in the world. These majestic scavengers use air currents to glide effortlessly across the Andean mountains, often covering great distances without flapping their wings. Feeding mainly on carrion, they play a vital ecological role in keeping the environment clean. The Antisana National Park is one of the best places to observe the Andean condor in Ecuador, making it a true birdwatching hotspot and a must-visit destination for wildlife and nature lovers. To enjoy an even better experience on this Condor tour, we recommend bringing binoculars and a camera with a good telephoto lens. Don`t forget to bring an extra battery and memory card for your camera, otherwise you will miss the oportunity of capture spectacular Andean species.

Amazing wildlife and nature. Despite the rather cloudy and rainy weather, I encountered much wildlife including condors, spectacled bears and colibri birds. Overall a great experience!

Edwardo was exactly on time to pick us up at our hotel. He was very informative and friendly throughout the tour. We were fortunate enough to see at least 12-15 Condors plus several other native birds and wildlife, of course Hummingbirds too. It was a beautiful clear day and the Volcanos were magnificent along with views of the city. Highly Recommended.

Booked a last minute trip during our layover as we flew in. Our guide, Edwardo, was kind and informative; he picked us up at our hotel and provided descriptions of the areas we drove through. He explained the area history, took us to pick up snacks, then took us to a walk along a lovely stream and see the condors. We also stopped to see deer, more condors and a caracara, We stopped to see hummingbirds and for nice lunch. We had a really good time as we saw the area for the first time.

There was a delay due to a broken down vehicle but a replacement guide was found reasonably quickly and Jean-Pierre was excellent. We had over 15 condor sightings amidst beautiful scenery including a snow capped volcano. A great experience.

We were picked up by our tour guide Eduardo on time. Eduardo was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a rainy day so we didn't get to see condors flying (our main goal) at the observation deck but we did see two condors standing on the cliff through Eduardo's telescope. We saw many humming birds at Tambo Condor Bird Lodge where we first stopped to use the facilities and drank some tea, and later had lunch on the way back. Overall it was a successful trip. PS: right after we booked the tour we communicated with the tour operator Galapagos My World via Whatsapp, Silvia of the customer support was very responsive and answered our question quickly.

An ideal place and set up to view, sometimes at close range, depending on the birds flight path. The environment is awesome and there are very interesting trails. Also feeders for hummingbirds are present. So you get it all.

We were thrilled to see the magnificent Andean condors flying overhead numerous times. Eduardo has an excellent knowledge of birds and ability to spot different types of birds and animals.
