Riisitunturi is a national park located 150 kilometres east of Rovaniemi in a hilly area of Finnish Lapland. Riisitunturi is famous for having beautiful photogenic scenery with majestic snowy trees. Thick blankets of snow and ice turn spruce trees into big puffy marshmallows that attract tourists and photography enthusiasts. Your guide will pick you up in the morning and drive you 2 hours from Rovaniemi through the Arctic wilderness. When you reach your destination, it's time for a 4-kilometres-long hike in the national park. Your guide will take you to the best spots where you can admire the beauty of Arctic nature. Most likely you will have a chance to observe stunning snowy giants and unique scenery typical for Riisitunturi. As you hike through this winter wonderland, your guide will keep an eye on wildlife and teach you more about nature. Refreshments and a typical Finnish campfire snack will be served around the open fire to keep you warm. Lunchtime is also a great moment for the guide to share knowledge and answer all your questions. The excursion lasts around 9 hours, including transportation, hiking and time around the fire. You will be back in Rovaniemi around 17.00.

Excellent tour to a beautiful area! While there was no snow on the trees when we visited due to the weather, Riisitunturi was still very beautiful.

This company doesn’t care about safety or people and shouldn’t be in business. We took a tour with Wild About Lapland (Rovaniemi) and had an accident. They don’t care about safety- providing run-down vans with worn winter tires (worn rubber, missing studs!). Our van went off the road, buried deep in the snow on the side of an icy road. Luckily everyone was ok. Locals who stopped to check on us all said this car - with these tires - shouldn’t have been driving. But the worst is their management who don’t offer a solution, leave the whole group by the side of the road in freezing temperatures, and also refuse to get us back to town safely. 8 people plus the guide were stranded in the middle of nowhere, freezing cold, and by complete coincidence a taxi van passed an hour later that could take us back to Rovaniemi (2.5hrs drive) for 300 euro, which comes to 37.5 euro per person. Each of us paid 190 euros for this tour and their manager categorically refused to get us back to the city for 37.5 euros. For someone who has been working in tourism for a decade, this is beyond comprehension. I can’t imagine something like this happening anywhere in the world but definitely not in Europe. In the end 8 of us paid our own taxi. How can any self-respecting business refuse a super cheap solution like this to get its customers back to town safely and warm - is beyond our comprehension. Can you even imagine?! Not even a sorry. Just screw you all and ‘sue us at a Finnish court’ if you want - said on the phone on a speaker to the whole group 😳 by manager Nick who refused to say his family name. After this thing escalated on Facebook and via GetYourGuide (luckily we didn’t book directly!), they called to apologise and offered a refund. Not for the taxi though… Avoid them at all costs and stay safe out there! And learn from our mistake - call the police to investigate the car immediately if something like this happens! These companies need to be held accountable and invest in proper safe vehicles.

I highly recommend Wild About Lapland to anyone visiting Rovaniemi! The entire team is incredibly friendly and professional, making our trip absolutely perfect. We joined their hiking tour to Riisitunturi National Park, which lasted about nine hours in total, with around four hours of actual hiking. Along the way, we stopped at a cozy little hut in the mountains, where we enjoyed grilled sausages and hot cocoa—a truly delightful experience. Our guide, Maca, was fantastic! Not only was she knowledgeable and passionate about the forest, sharing fascinating insights throughout the hike, but she also went out of her way to take amazing and fun photos for us. Her enthusiasm and friendliness made the experience even more special. Another lovely touch was their adorable souvenirs, like hand-crocheted woolen socks, which were absolutely charming. They also had a great selection of snacks available for purchase, making it easy to grab a treat before or after the tour. If you’re visiting Rovaniemi, joining one of their tours is an absolute must—it’s an experience you won’t regret!

Enjoyed the hike with amazing views. Trees were covered with fresh snow. Atanas the guide really did his job well. He explained and assisted his members well. Highly recommend the tour.

Assuming that Atanas was an extremely attentive and kind guide and did everything to make the day beautiful for everyone, there is an underlying problem. The experience is sold as intended for small groups, but the company makes several groups leave at the same time, so you find yourself making the trail in Indian file with another twenty people, some of whom have no respect for the silence of this magical place. Even the barbecue experience is nothing intimate or adventurous, as you find yourself in a shed with 30 other people and a great confusion. The place is lovely but we feel that the description of the tour does not match the experience offered and that the price is excessive.

We wanted to do something different from the classic Tours in Rovaniemi, this experience was perfect! We did an easy but great hike through the forest and it was amazing! Jordan and his trainee Anne were the perfect guides, practical, funny and they explained to our group lots of stuff about the forest and the trees! I would higlhy recommend the tour!

Good trip to see the forest. Went in late March. The trees weren't full of snow at this time but it was still wintery in the forest with the snow falling. Recommend to take the journey.

Went on the ‘Arctic Adventure through Magical Frozen Forests of Riisitunturi’ day tour. It definitely was a magical start to the new year!! The tour consisted of a relaxed hike on a trail within the national park. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable throughout and we stopped at a fire pit to cook sausages and have hot drinks and snacks. The weather was perfect - extremely cold (-28°C) but clear skies and no wind which offered exceptional views the trees and the surrounding region. The additional clothing provided kept us lovely and warm. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer!!
