  • Animals in the spotlight in a 17th century setting

This new museum, housed in an aristocratic 17th century mansion, is an aesthetic marvel and the two artists who imagined and staged all these naturalized animals (and sometimes their skeletons) are real magicians. The discourse on nature protection is not forgotten. At the end of the tour, the Vasari Seashell Coffee Shop is a delightful stopover overlooking the inner garden. A real gem on one of Amsterdam's great canals.

A beautiful museum in a fantastic location. A 17th century canal house that is in itself a museum. It is a small tour of well-conceived setups with stuffed animals and fossils. My son (10) did the children’s route and was completely immersed in it. Questioning humanity in relation to our planet, added an extra layer to this beautiful visit. The staff are more than nice and the café is a nice place to feel like a homeowner from the 17th century, but with a chai latte. Definitely recommended to do with children.

A Wunderkammer like you want to see a Wunderkammer. Very inspiring. You are short of eyes and it is wonderful to discover all the details. Highly recommended!

Fantastic!!! How beautifully exhibited. Seen them before in country house Amelisweerd. Was so impressed then and now again. You can see that there is an eye for how it is presented. Use of colour, composition etc. Inspiration of paintings by old masters. Still lifes. They are all beautiful works of art. That again in a beautiful building. Love it. Must see!!!

Great beautiful canal house and very nice collection of stuffed animals (and tulips!). Beautifully designed exhibition with accessible explanation interesting for both children and adults, very well done. Not too big, in 45 minutes you will be through the exhibition. Recommended is also the kitchen. Nice staff.

Beautiful museum! The makers show so much craft and an eye for beauty here. The museum itself is small enough to look at everything with attention. There is a café in the back of the museum. When we were there they were almost closing so I didn't see the map. But outwardly it looked very atmospheric.

This museum is highly recommended! I, as a biologist, am very impressed with the quality of the stuffed animals! They are often real wunderkammer setups but always with true-to-nature attitudes and with respect for the animals. The stories make it even more special! The artistic side is also highly recommended. No floating, unfollowable ideas but well-developed concepts that have been worked out to perfection! Don't hesitate, but go. Also with children! Oh yes, and the property is also terribly beautiful!
