This is a truly Highlight-Experience: if you live in a big city then you will be amazed by the Southern Hemisphere Milky Way in it’s splendor. Imagine counting up to 6.000 naked-eye visible stars instead of the 30 that you may see in the urban light polluted sky – it is a big WOW!!!
We will go through the beauties of the night sky – looking for planets, stars, shooting stars, satellites, constellations and galaxies. We may elaborate on life outside Earth – based on Science and Philosophy, including the Fermi Paradox.
“Selfie-of-the-Stars”: an unforgettable picture of the group with the stars in the background taken with state-of-the-art photographic equipment will be handed over with resolution for social media usage (digital file).
Note: tours available from Last Quarter through First Quarter including New Moon phases, meteorology depended activity.

What To Expect
This is a great opportunity to look at the night sky with the milky way in its splendor in a dark sky with almost no light pollution (Bortle Class 1-2), a totally immersive and fascinating experience. It’s a must-see for people having an urban life - where starry skies no longer exist due to light pollution. No hiking is required (the stars are too far away). Cambara do Sul city is the base of this outdoor activity – located ca 200km from the nearest international airport in Porto Alegre/South Brazil. Activities: -Sunset phases, observing the dynamics of light; -Identification in the night sky of planets, stars, shooting stars, satellites, constellations and galaxies (using a high-power laser pointer); -Navigation using stars; -Light pollution and its effects; -Human and extraterrestrial life, the Fermi Paradox; -Preparation/registration of the “Selfie-of-the-Stars”; -Naked eye sky observation (no telescopes are used); -Duration: 4h (typically 17:00-21:00h, Winter 16:30-20:30h/Summer 18:00-22:00h). -Minimum age: 16 years old

5.00An exceptional Astronomical tour with Professor Egon Filter, a unique experience. We had the opportunity to enjoy the sunset and observe the Milky Way and the constellations, as well as the passage of several falling stars (Meteors) and some satellites. Professor Egon Filter led very well the group is very good in storytelling and historical facts about the region of South Cambara and about the formation of the universe.

5.00Our evening of 18/04/2026 in Cambará do Sul gained a special glow with Professor Egon’s astronomical tour. If the sky in the region is already breathtaking due to the absence of light pollution, driving the Egon turns everything into an unforgettable experience. With a deep knowledge and an incredible didactic, he explains the universe with lightness and good mood, capturing the attention of everyone without engaged scripts. The big difference, besides the class under the stars, is Egon's talent with the camera. He is able to capture photos of the participants with the night landscape that look pure magic: the effects and the sharpness of the stars around us create artistic records that no ordinary camera would accomplish. We left there with the soul washed and full of memories of rare moments of contemplation. Gold tip: go with warm clothes (take it seriously when he says it) and prepare to get excited. It was, without a doubt, the highlight of our stay in the Campos de Cima da Serra! We are indicating to all friends and acquaintances that we know that you will go to Cambará!

5.00Imperdible!!! It was wonderful and very beautiful. Our Egon guide is a storytelling. I possessed a lot of knowledge of the subject, tells us and gives a show of the theme of the tour. I recommend you take the Astronomical Tour, there is no way to explain how gratifying it is just with words. I attach photos to show a little bit of what I experienced. Super recommend.
