This is a truly Highlight-Experience: if you live in a big city then you will be amazed by the Southern Hemisphere Milky Way in it’s splendor. Imagine counting up to 6.000 naked-eye visible stars instead of the 30 that you may see in the urban light polluted sky – it is a big WOW!!!
We will go through the beauties of the night sky – looking for planets, stars, shooting stars, satellites, constellations and galaxies. We may elaborate on life outside Earth – based on Science and Philosophy, including the Fermi Paradox.
“Selfie-of-the-Stars”: an unforgettable picture of the group with the stars in the background taken with state-of-the-art photographic equipment will be handed over with resolution for social media usage (digital file).
Note: tours available from Last Quarter through First Quarter including New Moon phases, meteorology depended activity.

This is a great opportunity to look at the night sky with the milky way in its splendor in a dark sky with almost no light pollution (Bortle Class 1-2), a totally immersive and fascinating experience. It’s a must-see for people having an urban life - where starry skies no longer exist due to light pollution. No hiking is required (the stars are too far away). Cambara do Sul city is the base of this outdoor activity – located ca 200km from the nearest international airport in Porto Alegre/South Brazil. Activities: -Sunset phases, observing the dynamics of light; -Identification in the night sky of planets, stars, shooting stars, satellites, constellations and galaxies (using a high-power laser pointer); -Navigation using stars; -Light pollution and its effects; -Human and extraterrestrial life, the Fermi Paradox; -Preparation/registration of the “Selfie-of-the-Stars”; -Naked eye sky observation (no telescopes are used); -Duration: 4h (typically 17:00-21:00h, Winter 16:30-20:30h/Summer 18:00-22:00h). -Minimum age: 16 years old

The pictures of the sky full of stars (which look like a picture) are neither edited nor exaggerated. It is so. That's what we see with the naked eye. It is an unforgettable night, images (and photos) that we take forever and remember with magic and beauty. More cool is the whole explanation, the class and the jokes that Egon makes with the class. We love the view and learn a lot about the region, the sky, the universe and our journey. A must experience for everyone once in a lifetime!

I never thought I'd see the stars so clearly. It was an incredible experience, which I will keep for the rest of my life, as well as the photos. The Egon was, as we say in the south, a "baita" guide. I was able to observe the sky and receive a lot of rich information about the constellations, the stars, the planets... I loved! Indicate a lot! It is, without a doubt, one of those experiences that we need to do at least once in life!

Unforgettable. Just a word describes this wonderful experience. Egon’s storytelling is exceptional, both in the group dynamics and in the explanations. We'll be back...

It was very nice past experience and knowledge. We saw, heard and learned a lot about the planets, the Milky Way and the photos were very cool. And when something happened unexpectedly, like a falling star that was passing, or a satellite. So it was very cool. It was very cold, and we were well warned and Egon also brought cloaks / blankets and pelegos so we didn't get so cold.

We made the tour in May/2026 and it was wonderful! Egon goes telling everything like a storytelling and explains everything. It was wonderful! If you go in winter, chew yourself very well, because it is very cold. Super recommend!

We did an astronomical tour with the Egon Filter in Cambará do Sul and it was a very different and special experience. The tour took place in an area of araucaria fields and forests, on a very clean and almost cloudless day, which left the sunset and the night sky even more beautiful. The intense cold of the night, with negative temperatures, also ended up being part of the experience. The sky of Cambará impresses by the absence of light pollution, and the observation was starting slowly, from the first celestial bodies appearing at dawn to stars, planets and other phenomena throughout the night. One of the most interesting moments was watching the passing of the Chinese space station Tiangong with the naked eye. According to Egon, it can only be observed during the tours at specific times of the year, when the passage coincides with the dawn. In addition to the astronomical side, we liked the conversation and explanations throughout the night, ranging from local jungles and legends to theories about life outside Earth and the search for civilizations on other planets.

The Astronomical Tour was one of the most different and striking experiences of the trip. Egon conducts everything with an engaging storytelling, making the observation of the sky much more interesting and special. In addition to the amazing explanations, the photos were beautiful and super professional. I highly recommend!

The astronomical tour of Egon is truly a 5-star experience! Despite the cold night it was very beautiful to see the starry sky and listen to all the stories told by it. Besides the astronomical knowledge Egon is a good storytelling. If it is on a cold day it is very important to go well-groomed.

An exceptional Astronomical tour with Professor Egon Filter, a unique experience. We had the opportunity to enjoy the sunset and observe the Milky Way and the constellations, as well as the passage of several falling stars (Meteors) and some satellites. Professor Egon Filter led very well the group is very good in storytelling and historical facts about the region of South Cambara and about the formation of the universe.
