If you’ve only got one day and want to visit both Auschwitz and the Salt Mine, this is the way to go. Artur was a fantastic guide, communicative before hand and invaluable throughout the day. Having him at the entrance of Auschwitz was especially helpful as he had pre-purchased our tickets and knew exactly where to go — bathrooms that wouldn’t have lines, where to find our English guided tour, and more — which saved us a lot of time and stress, especially traveling with 2 kids (11 and 14.) He dropped us off right with our guided tour group and we easily found him after Auschwitz. It was nice to have a clean, temperature controlled car to relax (and nap) in on the way to the salt mine. Artur offered a bit of extra history tour on the drive from Auschwitz and the salt mine and, even though we had unexpected traffic between the two sites, Artur got us there on time. The ride back to Krakow from the salt mine was just 45 minutes and Artur made an excellent dinner recommendation (the Black Duck) which ended up being one of our favorite meals in Poland. A quick note on the actual museums: this day was long, starting before 7am and ending around 5:30pm and it involved a lot of walking (my watch tracked 16,000 steps.) The drive to Auschwitz from Krakow is about an hour and a half. Auschwitz is mainly outside but involves going in and out of buildings, up stairs, etc. The salt mine is a little less walking, but many stairs going down. My 11 year old son was a trooper but I don’t think he would have made it without taking naps in the van between the two sites. I wouldn’t recommend this long day trip for those with children under 12. Also, bring snacks. Tour ending times and meal breaks are unpredictable and even though there were places to buy food at Auschwitz and the salt mine, we didn’t always have the time for a stop. All of that said, this trip was a highlight of our time in Poland and I would 100% recommend doing a tour with Artur.

We can highly recommend this day trip with Artur Widlak - despite us having an unexpected early start to the day it was definitely worth it. Artur looked after us from start to finish ensuring we knew exactly what was happening during each visit and saving us from having to queue and establish where to go and find out what we had to do. It was an absolute pleasure to share our day with Artur and gain from his knowledge and pride in his heritage

Artur was absolutely incredible! A very busy day with a packed schedule went extremely smoothly thanks to Arthur. He was very easy to get hold of and on time. Artur went the extra mile. Me and my boyfriend sat at the front with him throughout the day and conversation flowed. Artur shared his knowledge of his beautiful country and telling us stories about the areas we were driving through that we would never have known otherwise! If you are planning to do both of these activities I would highly recommend this tour. The day is planned for you, all you have to do is turn up. You’ll be driven, your tickets will be provided to you, you’ll skip the extremely long queues and you’ll get to meet lovely people along the way, including Artur.

Artur is a thoughtful, well informed guide who knows how to get the maximum out of a busy day, as ours was, embracing Auschwitz and the fabled salt mines all in one day. He knows how to avoid the bottlenecks and make the best use of the time available. All done with elegant Polish courtesy and good English. We felt like VIPs!

Thank you Artur for a great day. Highly recommend this trip. Booking was simple, quick acknowledgement from Artur on booking and details / timings provided 48 hours in advance. On the day, everything went smoothly, fast track entry to Auschwitz, lovely sandwiches provided and a short break in a local restaurant prior to Salt Mine tour then a short drive back to our hotel in Krakow. If you’re looking for comfortable, well maintained transport that avoids the crowded tour buses, everything organised for you and a tour guide that knows what he’s doing then this is the tour to book. Thanks a lot Artur

My wife and I took a trip to Auschwitz and the Salt Mine with Artur last week. He picked us up at our hotel and we headed out the 1.5hr drive to Auschwitz. This gave me some time to have a good chat with Artur. He’s a lovely guy! I really enjoyed talking to him. He is obviously very knowledgeable about Poland’s heritage and also very passionate too. It made the drive feel shorter. On arrival at Auschwitz, he looked after us all and made sure we knew where we were going and what we were doing. Same goes for the short drive round to Birkenau. He then took us to the Salt Mine. On arrival, he pointed us to a restaurant, where we had something to eat. It was very cheap and my wife loved her Pizza! We then walked around the corner across the street to the Salt Mine with Artur’s assistance. The Mine was very impressive! My wife didn’t like the lift back to ground level though. 7 people crammed into a lift that would suit 4 people at most, if I’m honest but, you’re only in it for 20 seconds. I thought it was funny myself! Not for those of us who are claustrophobic! Once back on ground level, we walked round and met Artur in his minibus and he drove us back to our hotel. All in all, we enjoyed our day out and Artur’s company. His driving was impeccable! Would we recommend Artur for a tour? Of course we would. A lovely guy and a pleasure to have met him! 😊
