We had a great experience on the olive trail today. Everything was done at a slow pace giving us a chance to soak up the atmosphere, first of the olive trees then of the local factory and then the lovely food preparation and eating. Nikos is the perfect host and is passionate about olive oil. I learned so much. Definitely recommend this special trip made all the more special for me when the group learned that it was my birthday.

The highlight of our trip!!! We had such a nice day with Nikos walking through the olive trees and learning about the full process. We got a full tour of the factory as well and got to see firsthand how much effort is put into creating olive oil. We then went to this beautiful area where we made Cretan specialities and ate it in the garden which was so peaceful and delicious. We got to do an olive oil tasting and learned how to truly do it correctly and what to look for when purchasing olive oil. It was such an informative day, we had the best time, and Nikos is the best guide! Even Nat Geo gives this tour the stamp of approval. Don’t hesitate and book!

This was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to the Elounda coast in July. We booked the Olive Trail through our TUI operator and really enjoyed it. From learning the full journey of olive oil — right through to visiting the processing unit — to strolling through the beautiful groves, it was both fascinating and relaxing. Lunch was a real highlight: we helped prepare it ourselves, then enjoyed a delicious feast paired with an olive oil tasting where we learned how to spot exceptional olive oil. Our host, Nikos, was welcoming, knowledgeable, and full of passion, which made the whole experience unforgettable.

This was an exceptionally intimate, immersive, cultural experience that exceeded expectations and capped our trip to Crete. Nikos happened to be at our hotel the night we arrived offering samples of his family’s products. He wasn’t pushy or sales/y but very informative. He offered to personally pick us up and return us at the hotel the next day for the full tour and lunch experience. He did do, along with a family of 3 from another hotel. The walk and education the olive grove was so informative, then Ed toured the production facility, and then the real highlight - an afternoon of Raki and olive oil at his family’s country cottage while we made delicious dishes from his family’s vegetable garden, learning and laughing. Highly recommend to understand this important cultural tradition.

In the middle of the olive trees we arrive at an idyllic spot where Nikos and Katharina were waiting for us. We get a local almond drink and tasty snack. We get to make our own vegetables stew with the local olive oil and fresh vegetables from the garden. The dough for dessert was also prepared by itself. Along with tasty snacks, Raki and lots of water, we get an extensive and super interesting explanation from Nikos about olive oil and everything around it. We use olive oil daily at home, but after an olive oil tasting we look and taste it completely different with even more love for the product. We eat the delicious homemade stew of vegetables and chat after. Nikos and Katharina are incredibly friendly, warm and attentive. An absolute must for those seeking an authentic, non-touristy, cozy and educational experience in Crete. Normally there is a tour of the olive grove and a visit to the factory where the olive oil is made, but unfortunately we could not join this tour before lunch because of my partner's broken foot. Nikos olive oil, which he produces and sells himself, is of an exceptional quality and is fantastically tasty! Thank you Nikos for this incredibly nice experience 🫶

I went with my family… before I arrived I was sceptical and unsure whether I would be bored … I can assure you… I was not! It was a sentimental and passionate experience and Nikos was very knowledgeable and explained the process and the Cretan culture with so much passion it made you feel you were apart of it. If you visit this area of Crete, you must go and experience it for yourself, I left with not only knowledge but a more sentimental approach to life and a very full belly, after the most delicious food! Thank you Nikos for making the tour so beautiful and interesting!

Nikos was such a knowledgeable and fun guide that breathed life and humour into the learning experience… the day completely exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious and the actual oil tasting was fun. I feel that I can purchase olive oil now in a more discerning way.

Amazing tour for all olive oil and food enthusiasts in general. I can only recommend it especially for vegetarians like myself which were wondering why in the tavernas all the wonderful vegetables here on Crete are not offered. But let’s start from the beginning. The tour lets you visit an Olive garden and an Olive Oil factory. We learned a lot about the harvest and the Olive Oil production. The Olive Oil tasting afterwards was very informative as well. And I was positively surprised by the cooking class, as the dishes were all vegetarian made with regional and seasonal vegetables, some from the garden next to the outdoor kitchen.
