  • Small group made all the difference

I highly recommend booking the small group version specifically. With max 12 people per group, it felt personal and not like being on a crowded bus tour. Our ranger could stop the vehicle longer when we found lions and leopards, which wouldn’t happen with a full bus. The educational aspect was a bonus too - we got a complementary tour on their lion rehabilitation program and sustainable food program. The reserve also hosts giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and an abundance of bird species like Verreaux's black eagles. The rangers provide insightful commentary throughout, enriching the experience with facts about the flora and fauna. If you’re debating between Aquila and going further to Kruger, remember this is 2 hours from Cape Town vs a 2-hour flight plus long drive. For a one-day safari, it’s hard to beat.

  • Perfect Mix of Wildlife and Wine - Best Day in Cape Town

We booked this tour because we couldn’t decide between doing a safari or wine tasting, and this gave us both in one day. The pick-up from our hotel in Gardens was smooth and our guide was amazing - knowledgeable, funny, and spoke fluent English. First stop was Cheetah Outreach in Somerset West. Seeing cheetahs up close was unreal. The educational talk about conservation and their breeding program was really moving. We even got to see an “ambassador cheetah” and learn why they use dogs to help protect them. After that we headed to the Cape Winelands. We visited 2 award-winning estates - one in Stellenbosch and one in Franschhoek. Both had stunning mountain views and the wine tastings were generous. The guide explained how the terroir affects the wine without making it boring. Lunch was at a beautiful vineyard restaurant and it’s included in the “full day” price, which made it great value. You’re back in Cape Town by 5pm. If you only have one day and want variety, this tour nails it. Wildlife + wine + scenery = perfect combo.

  • Cheetah Encounter Was the Highlight of Our Trip

I’m not usually a “tour person” but my wife wanted to do something different from beaches and Table Mountain. The Award Winning Winelands + Cheetah Outreach tour was spot on. Cheetah Outreach blew me away. It’s not a zoo - it’s a conservation center focused on saving cheetahs. The staff clearly care and the info they share about human-wildlife conflict in SA was eye-opening. Seeing cheetahs run during the demonstration was fast and thrilling. After lunch we did wine tasting at two estates. I’m not a big wine drinker but even I loved the settings. Franschhoek is ridiculously pretty with the mountains all around. The guide made sure we weren’t rushed at any stop and helped us pick wines to buy and ship home. Transport was comfortable with AC and pick-up/drop-off was right at our B&B. Full day means 8am to 5pm but it didn’t feel long because every stop was different. If you love animals and good wine, book this one.

  • Great Value Full Day Tour with Excellent Guide

We did a lot of research before booking and this tour had the best reviews for combining Cheetah Outreach + Winelands. After doing it, I see why. The value is excellent for a full day with lunch and 2 wine tastings included. Our guide, Thando, made the whole day. He kept the group small so it felt personal, told great stories about Cape Town history on the drive, and gave us tips on which wines to buy. Cheetah Outreach was educational and emotional - you really understand the threats cheetahs face. The “run demonstration” where the cheetahs sprint for food is something I’ll never forget. Then the Winelands part felt like a reward. Stellenbosch is charming with oak trees and Cape Dutch architecture. We tasted 5 wines at each estate and didn’t feel pressured to buy anything. The lunch at the vineyard was proper - not just a sandwich. We had roast chicken, veggies, and dessert with a view. For anyone wanting more than just wine tasting from Cape Town, this award-winning tour delivers. Back by 5:30pm with bottles of wine and amazing photos.

  • Family-Friendly Tour with Something for Everyone

We traveled with teens aged 15 and 17 and finding tours that interest everyone is hard. This one worked perfectly. The kids loved Cheetah Outreach - they were fascinated by the dogs that live with cheetahs and asked tons of questions. The center is ethical and you can tell the animals are well cared for. After that, the Winelands was more for my husband and me, but the estates were beautiful enough that the kids enjoyed taking photos and trying the grape juice at the tastings. Our guide was great with teens and didn’t talk down to them. The drive between stops showed us parts of the Cape we wouldn’t have seen on our own - farmlands, mountains, and small towns. Lunch at the vineyard was relaxed and the setting was stunning. Full day tours can be tiring but this one was paced well with breaks. Pick-up and drop-off in Cape Town CBD was convenient. If you have one day and a mixed group, this Award Winning tour is a safe bet. Everyone in our family rated it 5 stars.

  • Award-Winning for a Reason - Professional and Memorable

Everything was organized professionally from booking to drop-off. We were picked up on time, the vehicle was clean and comfortable, and the guide was clearly passionate about both conservation and wine. Cheetah Outreach is a must-do in Cape Town in my opinion. It’s rare to get so close to cheetahs and learn about the real conservation work being done. The staff were respectful with the animals and the talk wasn’t preachy, just factual. Then the Winelands portion felt luxurious without being stuffy. We visited two very different estates - one big and historic in Stellenbosch, one boutique and scenic in Franschhoek. Both wine tastings were proper with 4-5 wines each, plus cheese pairing at one stop. Lunch was included and it was served at a vineyard with mountain views that looked like a postcard. The whole day flowed well and we were back in Cape Town before dark. For a full day tour that gives you wildlife, wine, and incredible scenery, this is the one to book. Worth every rand.

This tour gave me the perfect mix of two things I wanted to do outside Cape Town: visit the Winelands and see cheetahs up close. The day started with a pickup from my hotel and a smooth drive to Somerset West for the Cheetah Outreach center. Getting to stand just meters from the cheetahs and hear about their conservation program was incredible. The staff were passionate and knowledgeable, and you can tell the animals are well cared for. After that, we headed into Stellenbosch for wine tasting. We visited two estates, one historic and one more modern, and both had stunning views of the mountains. The guide kept the day relaxed and paced well, so it never felt rushed. If you want wildlife and wine without having to drive yourself, this is a great option.

  • A Thoughtful and Well-Paced Day Trip

I wasn’t sure how well cheetahs and wine would go together, but it actually worked really well. Mornings are the best time to see the cheetahs active, so starting at Cheetah Outreach made sense. The educational talk was eye-opening – I had no idea how much habitat loss affects them. The staff let us ask lots of questions, and the photo opportunity at the end was a bonus. After that, the Winelands portion felt like the perfect way to slow down. We had lunch at a vineyard with a view over the valley, and the wine tasting included some varietals I’d never tried before. The group was small, only 10 people, so it felt personal rather than like a big bus tour.

  • Great for Animal Lovers and Wine Fans Alike.

I booked this for my partner who loves wine and for me because I’m obsessed with big cats, and we both left happy. The Cheetah Outreach visit was the highlight for me. Seeing a cheetah walk right past us in their enclosure was unreal, and learning about their breeding and release program made it meaningful, not just a photo op. In the afternoon, the Winelands delivered on scenery and taste. We stopped at a family-run estate for a tasting and cheese platter, and the host explained everything without making it feel pretentious. The drive between stops was scenic, and our guide gave context about the Cape Winelands’ history and geography along the way. It’s a full day, about 8 hours, but it didn’t feel long.
