What To Expect
Fortress Walls of Icheri Sheher
Tour starts at Icharishahar metro station, just by the old city walls of Baku. From there on your way to the Palace of Shirvanshahs, you will get informed about the history of mosques, caravansaries, old trading squares and old city walls.
Palace of the Shirvanshahs
Enter the Shirvanshahs’ Palace, the central part of ancient Shirvanshahs kingdom and dive into the spirit of Islamic civilization while passing through the courtyard and king’s private rooms. Together with your guide you'll get to know the history of the palace and visit the meticulously designed mausoleums that witnessed many troubles for the past two centuries. Afterwards, you'll also explore the ancient and controversial pagan temple located next to Maiden Tower and see ancient pagan monuments discovered in different parts of Azerbaijan.

5.00Absolutely amazing walking tour led by Riad. We were the only people on the tour so we were able to ask additional questions. Riad demonstrated an excellent knowledge of the history of the old town as well as more recent history. The tour was lively and entertaining and we learnt such a lot in a short space of time. 5.00Mirhashim was an excellent and highly knowledgeable person and we were lucky to have him as our Baku Old City Walking tour guide. Mirhashim contacted us the day before via WhatsApp, making sure we were aware of the meeting point and the location map was sent by him again. He came equipped with printed slides which he used to make the tour more visually interactive. His stories or rather recounting of moments in history was not only informative but accurate timeline historically. He used humour and knowledge to make the tour engrossing and interesting. End of the tour, he was kind enough to inform us of the possible scams or tourist traps we could encounter and how we should avoid them. He also gave us a list of recommendations for restaurants, pubs, coffee shops to visit. We did pick two of his recommended restaurants and they did hit the spot right. Thanks Mirhashim. All the best.
