What sets the Lagum Adventure Balabac Expedition apart is the way we run the trip end-to-end: well-planned island routing (based on tides and sea conditions), a hands-on local crew focused on safety and comfort, and a relaxed pacing that gives you real time on the best sandbars and islands—not just quick photo stops. We keep the experience smooth with clear inclusions, organized logistics, and on-ground support, while practicing responsible wildlife viewing (turtles, giant clams, and starfish are admired with care and respect). It’s a true expedition vibe—raw, remote, and stunning—made easy by a team that knows Balabac.

Balabac
Tangkahan Island Tangkahan Island in Balabac is a relaxed beach stop known for its soft white sand and clear, turquoise water. Guests typically spend time swimming in the calm shallows, snorkeling when conditions are good, taking photos along the shoreline, and simply enjoying a laid-back island break—often a perfect spot to pause, recharge, and soak in the views before continuing the adventure.
Patawan Island (often called Dolphin Island) is one of Balabac’s postcard stops—famous for its powdery white sand, glass-clear turquoise water, and a sandbar that can look dolphin-shaped from above. During your Lagum Adventure Balabac trip, guests usually walk the sandbar for photos, swim in the calm shallows, and snorkel around the island when sea conditions are good—plus enjoy a relaxed beach break to soak in the view before hopping to the next island.
Canibungan Island (Balabac, Palawan) is a quiet tropical escape known for its white-sand shoreline, agoho/pine-like trees, and shallow seagrass beds that create beautiful turquoise-to-emerald color gradients in the water. During your Lagum Adventure Balabac trip, guests typically swim in the calm shallows, take a beach walk for photos, relax on the sand, and snorkel near the reef when conditions are good—spotting corals and colorful fish close to the coastline.

Balabac
Starfish Sandbar in Balabac is a stunning stretch of powdery white sand that appears during low tide, surrounded by shallow, crystal-clear water in vibrant shades of turquoise. Guests usually walk along the sandbar for iconic photos, wade and swim in the calm shallows, and enjoy a quick snorkeling stop nearby when conditions are good. Starfish are sometimes seen in the area—so we practice a strict “look, don’t touch” rule to help protect marine life while you enjoy this beautiful natural spot.
Candaraman Island is one of Balabac’s classic stops—think cream-white sand, swaying palms, and calm, crystal-clear water that’s perfect for an easy swim and beach break. On a Lagum Adventure Balabac trip, guests usually relax on the shore (often a great lunch stop), take photos along the coastline, and snorkel in the nearby shallow waters when conditions are good. Just off Candaraman is the famous Starfish Sandbar, where starfish are often visible at low tide (we follow a strict “look, don’t touch” rule to protect marine life).
Onok Island is one of Balabac’s most iconic stops—powder-white sand, a shallow “infinity pool” of turquoise water, and a sandbar that shows up during low tide. On the Lagum Adventure trip, guests usually wade and swim in the calm shallows, snorkel over the reef, and (when conditions and wildlife cooperate) get the chance to spot sea turtles feeding in the seagrass area and view the island’s giant clams from a respectful distance. It’s also a favorite for beach walks, drone-worthy photos, and a relaxed island break before heading to the next destination.

Mansalangan Sandbar is a beautiful low-tide stop in Balabac where a ribbon of white sand emerges in the middle of clear, shallow water. During the Lagum Adventure trip, guests usually walk the sandbar for wide-open panoramic photos, wade and swim in the calm turquoise shallows, and enjoy a quick snorkeling stop nearby when conditions are good—perfect for a relaxing break before continuing to the next island.
Balabac
Bragi Island Bragi (Braggie) Island is a quiet Balabac stop known for its floury white sand, shallow turquoise water, and pockets of mangroves that make the shoreline feel extra wild and untouched. During the Lagum Adventure Balabac trip, guests usually walk the beach for photos, wade or swim in the designated safe areas, and enjoy a quick relax-and-soak-it-in break before continuing to the next island. Because this area is part of Balabac’s natural habitat, we follow the crew’s guidance closely—especially near mangrove sections—so everyone stays safe while enjoying the scenery.
Punta Sebaring
Punta Sebaring (Bugsuk Island, Balabac) is known for its powdery white sand and a wide sandbar that emerges during low tide—one of those places that feels unreal in person. During the Lagum Adventure Balabac trip, guests typically walk the sandbar, swim in the clear, shallow water (it can feel like a natural “pool” at higher tide), take panoramic photos, and watch the sunset when timing allows—making it one of the most relaxing, scenic beach stops in the itinerary.

Puerto Princesa
Puerto Princesa is the capital city of Palawan and the main gateway to the island—most travelers pass through here for airport transfers, hotel check-ins, and day trips before heading to El Nido or Coron. Guests usually spend time exploring the city highlights like the Baywalk, local markets and food spots, and nearby nature experiences such as the UNESCO-listed Puerto Princesa Subterranean River (Underground River), island hopping in Honda Bay, or a quick side trip to Ugong Rock or Firefly watching depending on their schedule.

Unbelievable islands. Corals, turtles, starfish, white sand and turquoise waters... a dream. However, the staff does not speak .. or very little English. Puts us on islands without knowing what to see. Stop twice on supposed sandbars. Except they didn't plan for it to be high. No respect for the environment: anchor planted in corals.. butts thrown in the open sea... Plastic bottles from everywhere... What will happen to this circuit in a few years? Good meals. On the other hand taste..coffee and tea on the first day then nothing... The driver of the van was more than reckless.

Enjoyed this tour of the beautiful Balabac islands. I loved the island camp site with comfortable mattes inside the tent. The food was nice with veg, meat, fish options at lunch and dinner. Tour guide and boat crew were friendly. Transportation all worked smoothly. Cute dogs and cats on the campsite island. This is a remote and rustic experience so don’t expect hotel level accommodation. You are camping and sharing toilet/ cold shower.

The expedition did not live up to our expectations. Our guide, Mac Mac, was completely unqualified; he didn’t act like a professional guide at all. Throughout the trip, he didn't provide any information or context about the places we visited. Although we had received an itinerary via email, it was never followed or clarified. The first duty of a guide is to brief the group on the daily schedule, timings, and activities, but this never happened. Punctuality was also a major issue. He was consistently 20–30 minutes late, wasting our precious time on the islands. Furthermore, he failed to advise us on what to bring or how to prepare for each day. To top it off, he didn't even say goodbye to the group at the end of the tour. Regarding the food, while lunch and dinner were acceptable, breakfast was disappointing. I understand we were on a remote island and I wasn't expecting luxury—I actually enjoyed the camp stay as it was the kind of rugged experience I was looking for. However, the management needs to seriously review their standards to make the tour worth the price and enjoyable for guests. I wasn't the only one dissatisfied; everyone in the group was complaining. As a professional tour guide in Europe, I know what hospitality and group management should look like, and this was far below acceptable standards."

I did the 4-day Balabac tour with a friend and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip to the Philippines. The islands are absolutely stunning — crystal clear water, white sand beaches and untouched nature everywhere. What made this experience even more special was the amazing team. Everyone was so kind, caring and welcoming, and they really made us feel comfortable and taken care of throughout the whole trip. I’m honestly so happy we decided to do this tour and will always remember these beautiful days. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience paradise!

The experience ocerall is nice and Balabac is an amazing place. However the camp where we were accomodated is quite bad, the food also is very, very basic and not diverse. I've been to other exoeditions (El Nido-Coron) where both accomodation and food were much better. We also had the worst tour guide that I've ever seen. He was not even a guide, not giving us any information about how long we are staying at certain place etc. Once we came to a beach full of sand flies. He knew that but didnt mention anything to us. Later, I found out from another group that thier guide told them to put the repellent on before coming to that beach. As a result, I had more than 50 bites of sand flies.

We did the 4-day, 3-night Balabac tour with very high expectations, but unfortunately the experience was quite mixed. We had carefully chosen our original dates after checking the weather forecast in advance. However, the tour operator informed us that the minimum number of participants had not been reached for those dates and moved our booking. Since we were already in the Philippines with internal flights and a fixed itinerary, we had little choice but to accept the new dates if we wanted to do the tour. We clearly expressed our concerns to the tour coordinator. Out of three full days, two were absolutely beautiful: stunning locations, crystal-clear water, and breathtaking nature. Unfortunately, on the last day it rained heavily all day — exactly as I had anticipated based on the forecast. This is why I had repeatedly asked about the weather conditions and, most importantly, clearly stated that it was essential for me to return on the 26th because I had an international flight on the 27th. I have written messages where I explicitly mentioned this. Despite that, the coordinator later told my friend that I had never said anything about it. I find this lack of communication and accountability extremely unprofessional. Another negative point concerns the transfer. The driver contacted us and said he would pick us up at 2:30 AM. I asked several times to confirm the time, and he reassured me it was correct. In the end, he arrived after 3:00 AM, leaving us waiting for over 30 minutes in the middle of the night. Not the best way to start the tour. That said, I want to be fair: the local guides, the boat crew, and the staff at the village where we stayed were absolutely exceptional. They were kind, helpful, professional, and always smiling. They truly made a difference and did their best to make the experience enjoyable. In summary: Balabac is incredibly beautiful and definitely worth visiting. However, the organization and communication from the tour coordinator were very disappointing. Zero points for management and coordination, but top marks for the on-site staff.

Balabac are really beautiful but the quality of the experience is mostly dependent on weather: good weather good experience, bad weather bad experience, and this is kind of unpredictable. I was expecting to see more places and spend more time on beach, snorkeling and so, as most of the time is actually spent on moving between places in local boats. The tour is really 2.5 days (with really a lot of time spent on local boat to move between islands) as all the rest is traveling between Puerto Princesa and Balabac starting point; I think the tour is a bit overpriced for what you get; hygiene was ok considering the ‘situation’ but could be improved; make sure you get a hut and not a tend. The tour guide, crew and the local people are good and work well. As an overall I had a good time mostly due to the unspoiled and wild beauty of the place.

Amazing experience! Me and my friends enjoyed every minute of it. We loved to stay in a tent and riding the boat everyday. Our guide Renz is the most friendly person in Palawan and an excellent cook (especially for vegetarian food). We even got to see illuminacend plankton!

What a wonderful experience. Sleeping in paradise exploring remote islands is something rare to experience. Rene our tourguide made the trip. He put a lot of effort to make everyone satisfied. Even with the weather beeing not the best it was totally worth it. Totally recommend
