What To Expect
San Rafaelito Island
Sea Lions Snorkeling – San Rafaelito Island (30 minutes) Enjoy a unique sea lion snorkeling experience on San Rafaelito Island, a small islet off La Paz renowned for its crystal clear waters and active sea lion colony. For approximately 30 minutes, you can swim and observe these animals closely in their natural habitat, always in a respectful manner and following the instructions of your certified guides. Sea lions often approach each other curiously and playfully, creating an unforgettable moment. The activity includes: Complete snorkeling equipment Life jacket Certified guide Prior explanation on safety and maintenance The activity is carried out only if sea conditions and regulations permit, always prioritizing the safety and well-being of the fauna.
Playa Tecolote
While sailing along the Canal de San Lorenzo, located off Playa El Tecolote, we take a mini marine safari in search of pelagic fauna such as whales (depending on season), dolphins and mobulas. The experience is carried out from the boat, without disembarking, while your guides share information about the species that inhabit this privileged area of the Sea of Cortez. Animal watching depends on sea conditions and the natural behaviour of wildlife, always under a responsible navigation approach and respect for wildlife.

5.00We booked this tour based on recommendations from other travelers. It was definitely the highlight of our cruise and makes us want to come back to La Paz. Javier, Sam & Juan were the most amazing crew and did such an outstanding job throughout the excursion. They are passionate about nature preservation and sea animal protection. Snorkeling with those adorable sea lions was so much fun, and there were tons of beautiful fish and corals in the area, plus sting rays. Balandra beach was simply stunning. They set up umbrellas on the beach, provided towels and a super tasty lunch along with cold drinks. The amount of time we got to spend here was perfect to relax and thoroughly enjoy the water. No crowds, no vendors, no unwanted noises… Couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you! Vivian & Chris

5.00We booked the “Balandra & Sea Lions Exclusive Cruise Guest Experience” with Punta Baja Tours while visiting La Paz on the Carnival Panorama and it ended up being one of the best excursions we’ve ever taken. Javier, Samuel, and Juan were absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The entire team worked incredibly hard to make the day smooth, informative, fun, and relaxing. You can tell they genuinely care about giving people an amazing experience and sharing the beauty of La Paz and Balandra. Swimming and snorkeling with the sea lions at San Rafaelito was unforgettable, and Balandra Beach was honestly one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen. The water looked unreal. The hike up to the panoramic viewpoint was another highlight and gave us some incredible views and photos. What really stood out was how well organized everything was. Pickup from the cruise port was seamless, the boat was comfortable, the food and drinks were great, and the guides constantly made everyone feel safe, welcomed, and included. They also explained the wildlife, the protected areas, and the local environment in a way that made the tour educational as well as fun. As a couple, we loved the balance of adventure, relaxation, sightseeing, and beach time. Nothing felt rushed, and the entire day flowed perfectly. If you are cruising into La Paz and considering a tour — book this one. We would absolutely do it again. Huge thank you to Javier, Samuel, and Juan for making this such an incredible day for us. ABSOLUTE LEGENDS. The energy, the vibes, the way they made everything fun + smooth + unforgettable… 10/10 across the board. They kept us laughing, made sure everyone was taken care of, and honestly made the whole experience what it was. Balandra is STUNNING. Like unreal, pictures don’t even do it justice. 5.00We did this tour whilst on a cruise. The service is fantastic. The team meet you at the cruise terminal and organise everything perfectly. We firstly swam alongside the Sea lion colony and then spent a stunning few hours on one of the beautiful beaches near Balandra beach. Food and drink selection was great. The staff/ team looking after you l are incredible - so hard working, kind and can’t do enough for you. They would always check in to see if there was anything you needed. Would 100% use Punta Baja tours again if we return to La Paz!

5.00Top notch excursion. We have been on many excursions and the one thing that's always consistent is that there's aways some confusion about what were doing. Where were meeting or something. Punta baja communicated everything exactly before we met up. Our waiting times from getting off the ship to the bus and to the boat were minimal. The crew Javier ,itzla and captain Juan. ( hope i got the names right) were awesome. Very knowledgeable throughout the whole trip and very conscious about the environment and relaying that to all. Food was very good . I would probably do this again

5.00What a surprise! We didn't know what to expect from this tour and La Paz since we had never been there before, but let me tell you it was AMAZING! Hands down the favorite excursion of our 4 stops! Transportation from the cruise ship was easy and it saved you $40! The sea lion adventure was a new and interesting experience for us, but the beauty of Balandra Bay was mesmerizing! The water, the sand and the tranquility were unmatched for us on this trip! Captain Juan and his crew were attentive, informative and friendly! The food was yummy and they were super accommodating to us since one of the members of our party has a glutten intolerance! Got us special drinks and had the sandwiches as "bulid your own" as to not contaminate the lunch meat! Overall an exceptional experience and if we ever return to La Paz we will definitely be hooking up with Punta Baja Tours!
