What To Expect

Wat Ratchanatdaram Woravihara (Loha Prasat)

The pick-up time at your hotel is 4:30 pm. Your Tuk Tuk driver will come to your hotel and meet you in the lobby with a signboard with your name on it. You will then be transferred by tuk-tuk to the tour's starting point at one of Bangkok's landmarks, The Metal Castle (Loha presat temple). You will meet your English English-speaking guide and get a briefing about the upcoming tour and then go sampling the amazing Michelin foods around Bangkok city by tuk tuk.

The First Michelin food stop will be at Kor Panich Mango Sticky Rice, open since 1932 and known for its delicious mango sticky rice dish. The shop originally served their unique dish and recipe to the Thai kings and queens. The shop was founded in 1932 by Kaap and his wife, and it was his wife who made the sticky rice. She followed the recipe her mother, who worked in the royal palace kitchen, had passed down. As we dig into the perfectly ripe mangoes, we find them incredibly juicy. We then place them onto a bed of warm sticky rice, topped with creamy coconut milk lightly tinged with sugar and salt. Finally, we add a sprinkle of fried mung beans for an extra crunch, resulting in perfection. The restaurant is typical of this area. There are only a few tables, so we experience eating while sitting on a wooden chair by the roadside amid blaring cars and tuk-tuks passing by in front of us.

We really enjoyed the tour and getting to ride the tuk tuk. The foods were really good, especially going to places wouldn’t have thought to venture to. Our tour guide Tae was really nice, friendly, and provided a good history of Bangkok.

Whizzing around in a tuk tuk was great fun. Our guide Bo was passionate snd enthusiastic describing the food and the various stops around the city. It was great to have some sightseeing thrown in to let all that yummy food go down. Mango and sticky rice was dreamy, pad Thai delicious, the various dishes we shared were excellent, our favourite was the massaman curry. The piece de la resistance was the indescribably gorgeous Chinese donuts with a choice of 2 sauces. We plumped for the custard and the caramel. Piping hot, crunchy yet soft and absolutely delicious! We ate the lot although we were full already, they are to die for. Not a cheap tour but worth every penny!

Our guide Tom was very friendly, happy and knowledgeable, spoke English well and amended his itinerary to some participants wishes to try insects on the night markets as an add on to the Michelin food tour. He also accommodated our request for gluten free food and found alternatives if necessary. All the stars possible for this trip from us! :)

The Food, the Guide, the Tour, the Food again. Everything was excellent. I was laying in bed after the tour, full, happy and still thinking about the good food I had. The food was great! We liked the pad Thai so much that we went back the next day for more. And the mango sticky rice was also excellent. Our guide Tae made sure we had a fun experience.
