My dog Molly and I were amazed at the number of tourists who arrived at the Battlefield, spent less than 10 minutes at the site of Scotland's greatest battle, then departed Bannockburn.
Molly taught me to welcome visitors, give a warm hug, and say thank you for taking the time to remember our great heroes such as Robert the Bruce and James Douglas, and all those who fought, died, and survived at Bannockburn.
Our outdoor tour on the Battlefield, covers the Wars of Independence, the Battle, and the aftermath up to the current day. We shall entertain you with stories of the main characters and the small folk who influenced the battle.
We also do a Stirling Bridge tour, the scene of William Wallace’s greatest victory.
Freedom Tour Today is the perfect way to welcome visitors and learn more about why so many people hold Scotland and our history, dear to their hearts.
Sadly Molly passed away on the 15th of February 2024 with her Mum & Dad by her side. We miss her so much <3

Stephen was an exceptional tour guide - he took the time out to explain the lead up to the battle and how events unfolded from that point on. Nothing was too much in terms of the time that Stephen spent with us and the questions we asked - we would suggest that his knowledge was second to know and would highly recommend him.

A few days ago I took the Bannockburn Battlefield tour by Freedom Tours Today. Steven was my guide. He was great actually better than great. Steven is very passionate about the tours and ensuring that his clients get the full experience of the battle. He explains in detail the history and what the motivation was on both sides, what the leaders were thinking and planning, what strategies they used and what worked and what didn’t. Also tied it up with how the English commander at Stirling Castle was involved. Steven made this a fabulous experience and I highly recommend that tourists should go there after they visit Stirling Castle to really appreciate the history.

We were a group of six friends who had previously done the Braveheart tour which encouraged us to go back and do the Bannockburn tout. We had had such a good experience on the first tour to Stirling Bridge that we looked forward to this second tour. Not the least of the reasons for doing this tour was that our guide on both the tours, Steven, was infectiously enthusiastic about the battle, but was also extremely informative. A couple of us were well up on the history, but most of us knew just a few basic facts. Steven told us all a lot of things new to us and so we all ended very well informed of this turning point in Scottish history, and it made a big difference that we could see ground on which the battle took place and were able to understand the importance of the terrain to the outcome of the events. The meeting point was the Bannockburn Centre which has a free car park and also a nice café serving very nice home-made food. There is not a lot of walking and the tour should be accessible to almost all levels of mobility. This tour was well worth going on.

Wonderful! Such emotion going around the battlefield with Steven who was very informative and amusing. Loved every minute. It was my husband's birthday and he discovered with pleasure that it was also the birthday of King Robert the Bruce as well on the same day. We thoroughly recommend a tour with Steven which was a great experience.

My wife and I decided to find a tour of Bannockburn Battlefield, and are we lucky we found Freedom Tour Today! Steven’s obvious passion for history clearly guides his career obligation to present the past. Although we could easily have walked the battlefield alone, Steven’s tour transcends the accepted, and sometimes simplified, version of history to include a variety of alternate theories and battlefield locations which take into account new information. At the end of the tour, we felt informed, entertained, but most of all welcomed to Scotland

I found Steve to be a fascinating font of knowledge and passion. I am writing about about British monuments to war and as an oral historian am keen that every memorial should have a contemporary voice. There is no better voice that Steve, whose engagement with the area and the stories and love of Scotland are unsurpassable. He brings the narrative into the present day, connecting then and now with local anecdotes and personalities, and he is a brilliant reminder that history really matters, it is key to our identity and ideas about ourselves and the countries we live in. Steve and I had much friendly banter about Scotland and England and Robert as a 'fair' king. All in all it was a fantastic day.
