  • Excellent Piedmont Tour with Chiara

Our tour, led by Chiara Caruana, was nicely paced, interesting, and ultimately delicious on a perfect day in the Italian Piedmont. Rainy the day before the weather was perfect for the ride to Alba from Milan, and for our excursion around Milan. For that reason, the views were great, and the Alps could be seen from every stop. Cavour's Castle was interesting, and the winery tour and tasting were informative and delightful. Excellent wine, introduced by a professional from the winery. The highlight, however, was the opportunity to have a long lunch of local specialties in Alba during the White Truffle Festival. Chiara first took us to a truffle and olive oil purveyor for a tasting of truffles and a glass of local wine, then provided us with a list of nearby restaurants, all tested for quality. My partner's and my meal did not disappoint. Outstanding. Chiara too added to the experience. She was very knowledgeable, approachable, and friendly. The only critique I have is that I thought the group was too large and the van too crowded. Other than that, we thought that the tour was excellent and would recommend it to anyone.

Driving through Italy felt like moving through a living painting, every curve of the road revealing another postcard view—golden vineyards stretched to the horizon, olive trees shimmering in the breeze, and cypress-lined hills glowing beneath the Tuscan sun. The air smelled of grapes, espresso, and sea salt, while old Fiats hummed down narrow lanes that wound between centuries-old stone villages. Stopping at a winery tucked into the countryside felt like stepping back in time: terracotta roofs glowing in the light, oak barrels resting in cool stone cellars, and the scent of fermenting grapes filling the air. The winemaker, hands stained deep red, poured glasses with quiet pride as laughter drifted through the courtyard. Each sip carried hints of blackberry, vanilla, and history—centuries of tradition bottled in a single taste. Outside, the sun melted into the horizon, setting the vineyards ablaze with gold. The drive continued past lemon groves, lavender fields, and distant church bells, with every moment offering a new reason to fall in love with Italy—the freedom of the open road, the warmth of the people, and the timeless beauty that seemed to follow wherever the car went. Every stop brought stories, every bottle of wine a memory, and every mile a reminder that in Italy, life isn’t rushed—it’s savored.

Amato and Alberto were the perfect hosts. Drive was safe and fast - and the education was well-worth the price. We enjoyed visiting the beautiful and historic sights of the Barolo region, including Alba and the Corino winery. We also met the entire Corino family over a delicious glass of their Barolo Riserva. Highly recommend!
