The tour will start in Cagliari from the Harbor or from your hotel. After an easy 45-minute drive to Barumini, we will cross the Marmilla Region, trough fields of wheat and artichokes. Once in Barumini, you will discover one of the most beautiful prehistoric sites of the Mediterranean sea, the 3,800-year-old Fortress of Su Nuraxi, protected by UNESCO and representative of Sardinian Nuragic Culture. After this stop, leave for another adventure in the Giara plateau, where the little wild horses live.

Franco picked us up promptly at our hotel and told us all sorts of interesting historical facts about the area as he drove us through the countryside in his comfortable van. He then got us set up with a tour of Barumini museum and ruins, which was fascinating. After the tour, he drove us to the volcanic plateau and we saw about ten or twelve wild horses! We felt safe with his driving and very well taken care of. Franco was warm and knowledgeable about Sardinia, not to mention he went above and beyond by recommending some restaurants for us to try in town. If you come to Cagliari, I highly recommend you take Franco’s tour.

Tour guide was excellent and adapted our trip as it was at 3 pm in the middle of the high heat and humidity of Summer. He allowed me to sit up front with my medical problems- very considerate. Hotel pick up was included as it was located in the center of Cagliari- so all good. The only issue is this UNESCO archeological sit is in the smaller side as compared to Machu Pichu in Peru and the one in Mexico- Chichén ltzá Be ready to pay extra euro 15 each person by cash or credit card to enter archaeological site
