Wat Ek Phnom
Wat Ek Phnom is an impressive Angkorian temple located about 9 kilometers north of Battambang city, on the left bank of the Sangkae River near the small creek of Prek Daun Taev, northwest of the Peam Aek area. Built in the early 11th century under the reign of King Suryavarman I, this Hindu temple is dedicated to the god Shiva. The temple features a central sanctuary surrounded by the remains of several satellite structures and is known for its beautifully carved lintels and sandstone architecture. Though partially collapsed, it still offers a glimpse into the grandeur of ancient Khmer craftsmanship and religious devotion.

We decided to go on this tour to see something else than Angkor and we were not disappointed. Our tourguide, Mr. Tann, made this long day trip an unforgettable experience. He provided lots of background information to all locations and the everyday life in Cambodia. He was able to answer all our questions and managed to integrate our personal wishes into the schedule. The tour was very diverse and offered a lot of different highlights and time to explore.

This is a long trip to very authentic places, where most of the visitors are local people. Particularly interesting is Ek Phnom Temple and Pagoda. During the ride, there is plenty of time for conversations on topics that interest us, including history, daily life, and the places we visit. The day ends with a truly delightful spectacle of millions of bats flying out to hunt. Entrance fees to the attractions cost very little or are free, and the group was small. The greatest highlight of the trip is the wonderful guide Tan, who has incredible knowledge, vast experience, and is simply a very positive person.

The excursion was very well organized. Our tour guide Tann was very accommodating and we felt in good hands all day. Tann has always responded to our needs. It is a long tour but we can highly recommend it.
