Rovaniemi
Your guide will collect you from your accommodation or Rovaniemi Airport. After a short briefing, you will head to an authentic reindeer farm. Meet the most iconic animal of Lapland! Accompanied by your guide, you will visit one of the most traditional reindeer farms in Southern Finnish Lapland, located on the shores of a peaceful bucolic lake. As you enter the place, the herders will greet you and show you around their farm. You will have a chance to get closer to the animals and feed the reindeers yourself with lichen or hay. This is the perfect time to take some pictures with those lovely animals!
Rovaniemi
After the morning visit, you will enjoy a typical lunch around the open fire before hitting the road again. Your guide will then drive you to an ethical family-sized kennel that hosts around 45 fluffy Polar dogs. The lovely dogs will be excited as soon as they see you! As the temperature is warm in summer you will be able to visit the kennel and meet the sledding dogs and their mushers. They will also share with you about their passion and the lifestyle of their beloved animals by answering all your questions.
Kuusamo
This is the climax of your animal trip! Your guide will lead you to a bear-watching hut in the middle of the wilderness. Inside the hut, there are many large windows and special places to install our cameras, so that you do not miss anything from the show! Bear-watching is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Quiet, and calm, a professional bear-watcher will explain more about the lives of the bears, while you will be waiting for the massive animals to approach the cabin. Wildlife is always unpredictable, and you may have to wait for a few hours before some bears appear. Cold snacks and drinks will be provided for the evening. Unfortunately, it is impossible to cook in the hut, as the smell and noise may affect the behavior of the bears walking all around you! Comfortable bunk beds are installed in the cabin, so you can use them whenever you need a rest. Warm sleeping bags and dried toilets will offer you a bit of comfort during this adventurous night!

Our guide, Justine, was fantastic and answered all our questions we had about Finland (history, traditions, culture, animals, saunas, etc.) whilst driving us to all the locations. Starting with an excellent visit to a Reindeer farm (thank you Juho for sharing your experience as a reindeer farmer) where we got to feed them. Then a stop for a fire cooked lunch and tips on lighting/cooking. Next visit was to a dog sleigh team (Greenland Polar Dogs) and their passionate owners. Included cuddling puppies. Finishing the day in a bear hide where we saw 2 bears, both splashing in the water and eating the fish provided by the guides. We also watched some beautiful white tailed eagles swooping down and back into the trees. We had a great night's sleep in the hut (poor Justine had to listen to us both snoring all night!). In the morning we had a dip in a beautiful lake to clean ourselves (amazing!). We got to the wildlife park early enough to see a Polar Bear; Moose; Wolves; a Wolverine; Boar; Owls; Arctic Fox; and more. Nordic Odyssey were brilliant in their communications prior to and during the trip.

This was an amazing experience! We were able to see 5 bears, including a mom with two young cubs, that were super cute!!! The whole trip was a great experience since we stopped at a reindeer farm and a dog (Greenland dogs) farm, and had a chance to hear at length what it takes to breed and train these animals. The bear watching experience is very safe, since you are inside a very well-built cabin and have great viewing windows. The bears come very close. The guides were very knowledgeable and shared a lot of info on bears and Finland in general.

An amazing trip visiting carefully selected locations which gave us a truely memorable experience. Both the Reindeer and Greenland dog owners clearly love and care greatly for their animals. The overnight bear hide/cabin experience was magical with close views of Bears feeding and swimming, along with White tailed eagles swooping about too. Thank you so much to Martin and Meredith for your knowledge, care and organisation not to mention all the driving!
