This is no ordinary indigenous village. This is not a show.

This is an authentic Wounaan community living in the 21st Century. You will experience a living pre-columbian culture embracing the modern world while maintaining their architecture, language, dress, music, art and culture. One foot in tradition, one foot in the modern world. We will learn about their origins, history, architecture, arts and crafts, daily life; the works.

What To Expect

Parque Nacional Soberania

The Wounaan Village is located inside this National Park. We will drive through the park on the way to the village. There is also a trail at the village where we can do a 20 minute hike and learn about some of the plants and trees used in the Wounaan's traditional medicine and culture.

Panama Canal

We will drive past Miraflores and Pedro Miguel Lock systems on the way to the village. Most of the road to the village runs parallel to the Panama Canal and there are several moments where we get glimpses of the locks, the lake and the ships.

We did the combination of Monkey island and Wounaan community with Gonzo. Gonzo knows exactly the right places where it is less touristy. He has a lot of knowledge and especially a lot of respect for the monkeys / nature and the Wounaan community. Everything in its purest form. Had a wonderful day with Gonzo, absolutely the best tour guide in Panama!

I would definitely recommend booking with Beautiful Tours and Gonzo to everyone. Gonzo is an amazing tour guide with an incredible knowledge of Panama and its history. His enthusiasm is contagious, and you leave the tour not only with a lot of new knowledge but also in a great mood. We did two tours with Gonzo and enjoyed both of them immensely. What really makes him stand out are his personal stories, insider tips, and the way he makes everyone feel comfortable and involved. It’s clear that he knows the people in the village very well, which adds an extra authentic and special touch to the experience.

We saw tons of monkeys...3 different species! Gonzo gives lots of history and interesting facts. It was all perfect!!!
