What To Expect
Belmullet
The walk commences in Carter Square where I tell the story of the founding of the town in 1824 by William Carter. Stories of famous visitors such as JM Synge and JB Yeats will also be recounted here.
Belmullet
The tour continues to the docks and along the Belmullet Canal built in 1845. The canal links Blacksod and Broadhaven Bays and the water always flows from Blacksod to Broadhaven. Find out why.

Visiting Belmullet, the homeland of my grandparents

5.00Bill Duffy was our tour guide and he was wonderful! I wanted to learn more about the area where my grandparents were born and this tour did not disappoint. Bill, from Black Sod spent time before researching the history and was a wealth of knowledge. He gave me a good picture of what it was like for my Great grandfather, who was born in 1812, and my grandfather who was the last of 16 children born in 1876. So thankful I signed up for this tour!
