First, we visit the Bachelor’s Mosque. The 19th-century Bachelors' Mosque is down by the Osumi River. It was built for unmarried shop assistants and junior craftsmen, and is perched between some fine Ottoman-era shopfronts along the river.
Berat Castle
The narrow stone paths go uphill in-between characteristic houses. It is where local ladies are selling traditionally handcrafted linen dating from their grandmother’s times. Some of the ladies will introduce us to some of the techniques of how they handcrafted all the linens. What makes the city and especially the castle more interesting is the fact that people are still living there, as centuries before. Berat Castle, also referred to as the Citadel of Berat and castle quarter, is a fortress overlooking the town of Berat.
