La Citta Alta
Bergamo is a town of two parts: Bergamo Alta (“the high town”) and Bergamo Bassa (“the low town”), connected by the historic cable car. In the heart of Bergamo Alta, we’ve selected dishes that capture the region’s food culture: from traditional farmers’ meals to richly prepared meats, and even gelato stracciatella, which was first created here. Guided by our local Foodie, you’ll follow a secret itinerary within the Città Alta walls, exploring bold flavors and delicate scents, from the origins of Lombard cuisine to the contemporary Bergamo food scene.
Palazzo Moroni
Let’s begin the tour with a classic aperitivo, featuring toasted bread slices topped with a variety of local garnishments. Each bite is perfectly paired with a glass of Valcalepio red wine, allowing you to savor the rich flavors of the region and set the tone for the culinary journey ahead.

So glad we chose to do this. Julia, our guide was outstanding -very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about food, wine and Bergamo itself. The tour was at a relaxed pace and we got to know Julia and the other members of the group. The food and wine we tried were all local specialities. We particularly enjoyed the Casoncelli and the stracciatella. All the food venues were great and allowed us to chat. Julia was very patient and happy to let be practice my italian, which was fantastic!
