6 to 7 Days Machame route Kilimanjaro hiking tour either joining, private or shared or group is also known as the "Whiskey" route, is the most popular route on Kilimanjaro. Machame draw is in its scenic beauty. However, the trail is considered difficult, steep and challenging, particularly due to its shorter itinerary. Therefore this route is better suited for more adventurous folks or those with some high altitude, hiking or backpacking experience. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the south, beginning with a short drive from Moshi to Machame Gate. The path leads hikers through the rain forest to Shira Plateau. Here, many of Kilimanjaro routes converge. Then the route turns east and traverses underneath Kilimanjaro's Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. Descent is made via the Mweka route. The six day variation combines days four and five, going from Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp without staying at Karanga.

From the village, depending on the road conditions, you will either continue to drive from the village to the Machame gate, but if not, the muddy 3 km walk will take about 1 hour to complete. After registering at the gate office, you start your ascent and enter the rain forest almost immediately. There is a strong possibility of rain in the forest, which will transform the trail into a very soggy, muddy and slippery experience. You will have a welcome lunch stop about half way and will reach the Machame camping area in the late afternoon. Your porters (arriving at the campsite long before you) will have erected your tent on your arrival. In the evening the porters will boil drinking and washing water and the cook will prepare dinner before you retire to your tent for the night. Night temperatures can already drop to freezing point at this campsite.

You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy screed towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point (18,600 ft), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. At Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. Faster hikers will see the sunrise from the summit. From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site, stopping at Barafu for lunch. You will want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. Mweka Camp is situated in the upper forest.

Our adventure in Tanzania was nothing short of spectacular, thanks to the outstanding organization and hospitality of Rede Tours. Over two unforgettable weeks in May, we experienced the best of what Tanzania has to offer, from the challenging heights of Kilimanjaro to the awe-inspiring wildlife of its national parks. 7 Days Kilimanjaro Climb via Machame Route The seven-day climb up Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route was a truly transformative experience. The route, known for its scenic beauty, provided us with breathtaking views and diverse landscapes, from lush rainforests to alpine deserts. Each day presented its own challenges and rewards, but the support of our experienced guides and porters made the journey manageable and enjoyable. Their knowledge, encouragement, and professionalism were indispensable, helping us acclimate properly and ensuring our safety throughout the ascent. The camaraderie among our group of seven was a highlight, and reaching the summit together was a triumphant moment we will cherish forever. "Pole Pole" (slowly, slowly) became our mantra, reminding us to pace ourselves and enjoy the journey. 6 Days Tanzania Safari: Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire Following our climb, we embarked on a six-day safari that took us through the Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park. This portion of the trip was equally remarkable, offering us close encounters with Tanzania’s rich wildlife and stunning landscapes. In the Serengeti, we witnessed the Great Migration, a breathtaking spectacle of wildebeests and zebras. Ngorongoro Crater provided a unique ecosystem teeming with diverse species, and Tarangire surprised us with its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Our guide's expertise enhanced our experience, as he was able to spot and identify animals with ease and share fascinating insights about their behaviors and habitats. Nalisis: The Best Tanzania Safari Planner A special mention goes to Nalisis, who meticulously planned our itinerary and ensured everything ran smoothly. Nalisis’s attention to detail and commitment to providing a personalized experience were evident throughout our trip. Every aspect, from accommodations to daily activities, was perfectly organized, allowing us to immerse ourselves fully in the adventure without any worries. Rede Tours made our dream trip to Tanzania a reality, and we couldn't be more grateful. Their exceptional service and the beauty of Tanzania have left us with memories that will last a lifetime. "Hakuna Matata" (no worries), "Pole Pole," and "Jambo Jambo" (hello) are words that encapsulate the spirit of our journey, and we hope everyone gets the chance to experience the warmth and wonder of Tanzania. We highly recommend Rede Tours and Nalisis for anyone planning a trip to Tanzania. We look forward to our next adventure with them. See you again! This trip was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we cannot thank Rede Tours and Nalisis enough for making it so special. If you’re considering a trip to Tanzania, do it – and let Rede Tours be your host. You won’t be disappointed.

My 7-Day Machame Route Kilimanjaro Climbing Experience with Rede Tours and Safaris From the moment I booked my Kilimanjaro climb with Rede Tours and Safaris, under the esteemed Nalisis organization, I knew I was embarking on an adventure of a lifetime. The Machame Route, famously known as the "Whiskey Route," promised a challenging yet scenic path to the roof of Africa. It did not disappoint. Day 1-3: Into the Heart of Wilderness The journey began at the Machame Gate, where the air buzzed with excitement and anticipation. The team from Rede Tours and Safaris was nothing short of exceptional. Their expertise and warm hospitality shone through, as they briefed us on the adventure ahead. The trek through the lush rainforest on day one set the stage for what was an exquisitely curated experience. As we ascended, the landscape transformed dramatically. The thick forest canopy gave way to heather and moorland, offering panoramic views that left us spellbound. The support from the guides and porters was phenomenal; they ensured our safety, comfort, and motivation remained paramount. Their knowledge of the mountain's flora, fauna, and geography enriched our understanding and appreciation of the environment around us. Day 4-5: Stepping Up the Challenge The Barranco Wall on day four was a testament to the route's 'Whiskey' nickname—a challenging scramble that was both exhilarating and rewarding. The camaraderie among climbers and the team was palpable, as we encouraged each other to reach the top. The nights under the starlit sky, with stories and laughter shared around the campfire, added to the magic of the experience. Day five introduced us to the alpine desert's stark beauty. The terrain became more arid, yet every step revealed breathtaking landscapes that felt almost otherworldly. The careful acclimatization strategy of Rede Tours and Safaris was evident, as we all felt well-prepared to tackle the higher altitudes. Day 6: Summit Night – A Test of Will Summit night was the ultimate test of endurance and will. Beginning our ascent under the cover of darkness. Our Guide was very amazing he had a big Vibe. We made it at Uhuru peak in the morning. It was so amazing the reflection of sunrise and the snow was really awesome moment for us.
