Acropolis
First stop the Acropolis hill. A bucket list visit for milions around the globe. Witness from up and close the most perfectly designed building in history and the most copied one. The Parthenon, or in Greek Parthenonas meaning the temple of the virgin goddess Athena, the daughter of Zeus the god of the Gods. This is the cradle of the Western civilization, where the foundation were put and where democracy was born. Learn the fascinating history behind the Acropolis and the ancient myths related to it. Admire also the temple of Athena Nike, the Propylea, and last but not least the Erechtheon with its beatiful 6 maidens statues. On the slopes of the Acropolis there is probably the oldest theater in the world from 600 BCE and also a Roman odeon used to this day.
Ancient Agora of Athens
Next stop the ancient Agora of Athens. The center of political, financial and social life. A site brought to light by the American school of classical studies. A beatiful site where you can admire probably the most well preserved ancient Greek temple dedicated to Efestos, the blacksmith god that makes all the weapons of the gods, the son of Zeus and Hera. On site there is also a beautiful reconstraction of an ancient 2 storey shopping mall. Today the ground floor houses the museum with the findings of the agora excavation which is still going on. Beautiful pottery, ancient coins, ballots, water clocks and a lot more. Yes, there was a shopping mall with 42 shops 2500 years ago. Apart from that the site has many ruins of goverment buildings, temples, court houses, parliament, theater, statues. Socrates the famous philosopher stepped on this ground. Mostly flat and covered in trees. A must visit site after the Acropolis.

Alexander made it easy for us to see the most important and interesting sites in Athens in our limited time. He was very helpful and flexible. I would highly recommend his service.

This was our first time in Athens and we wanted to get a feel of the city. Alexander made that happen. From the moment I booked the tour with him to the point where he dropped us off, Alexander was attentive to all our needs. This tour was beyond our imagination. His knowledge of Athens, it's history, andy mythology was amazing. He told us details behind every site we saw. Prior to the trip he walked me through what museum tickets to purchase and where to purchase these tickets (there are a lot of websites to rip you off). He arrived in a beautiful mercedes SUV/Van on time. His smile was contagious from the beginning. Being older travelers we had some mobility limitations which Alexander accomodated beautifully. There is no way we could have seen as much as we did in one day with little stress without Alexander. Oh, and I almost forget the quaint restaurant he guided us to for lunch. Delicious and a nice break. Alexander, thank you for making our trip to Athens so enjoyable and memorable.

Alexander was an excellent guide. He picked us up at our hotel. Asked what we were interested in doing and had a few suggestions of his own. He purchased tickets for us so we didn’t have to stand in line. Explained what we were about to see, dropped us off, and picked us up when we were ready. Suggested a local restaurant for lunch, it was excellent. Very enthusiastic about his heritage and shared local issues and accomplishments. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a superior guide.

We had a great day with Alex! He picked us up promptly for a full day adventure. We visited many sites, saw the changing of the guard and he took us to eat an authentic Greek lunch! Alex made the day exciting with his great sense of humor, his knowledge and positive energy!

Alex is just the best tour guide we have ever had. Anywhere! He has excellent English, friendly personality and a genuine enthusiasm for Athens and Greece. While his presentation for the many sights of Athens is perfect, he adds delightful background with his vast knowledge of Greek mythology and how it relates to each place on the tour. Pre-tour, he emailed me instructions for tickets to the venues. I informed him that I am not able to walk long distances and were happy to get as close as he could without me having to walk very far. Since he had allotted a lot of time to some of them, he suggested a vastly different schedule allowing him to show us many of the beautiful neighborhoods and areas of Athens that most tours don't include. He even took us to a delightful family taverna in a beautiful neighborhood for lunch. His vehicle was a new Mercedes van that was spacious and allowed me to get in and out of easily. If we ever return to Athens, we will surely use him again. Paulette and Muncie Russell Columbia, SC
