Prague Castle
Prague Castle, the largest castle complex in the world, is a highlight of any tour of Prague. This stunning architectural achievement, which took centuries to complete, reigns supreme from a hill above the rest of the city. The Castle, founded in 870, is also the seat of the Czech president. Dominating the complex is the breathtaking, mostly Gothic Saint Vitus’ Cathedral, which took a staggering 1,000 years to build. Under Emperor Charles IV, Prague Castle was the seat of the Holy Roman Empire. During darker days, Adolf Hitler occupied it. In rosier times, first democratic president Tomáš G. Masaryk and dissident-playwright-turned president Václav Havel ran the country from here.
Lesser Town
Prague’s Lesser Quarter has had an interesting past. The area, located below Prague Castle and extending along the Vltava River, was originally a series of small settlements outside the castle fortifications. At that time, the population was mostly ethnic German, merchants who had been invited by King Přemysl Otakar II. The town was ravaged by fire in a Hussite battle in 1419, then again in the fire of 1541, which also damaged St. Vitus’ Cathedral. In the year 1257, these settlements were consolidated, and a separate royal town was formed. Originally called Malé Město Pražské (Prague Lesser Town), the name eventually changed to Malá Strana (Lesser Quarter). The quarter houses many magnificent buildings once owned by the nobility, such as Valdštejn (Wallenstein) palace.

Gabriella is a great tour guide and will introduce you to Prague. Recommend to book early in your trip so you can follow her and get recommendations for other places to explore in Prague.

I had a fantastic time with Ms. Gabriela! She is very knowledgeable, fun and we had some laughs. Both she and the company managing the tour were so incredibly patient and supportive when I had some incorrect information, and it was immediately resolved. Additionally, I am hearing impaired and I had zero problem understanding anything she was saying, which is too often very difficult for me, and highly appreciated! If I had more time in beautiful Prague, I’d hit her up to see what else she’s got for me… what a bummer that I can’t. I would recommend Ms. Gabriela and this tour!

This was an amazing tour. Gabriella was so fun and she has endless knowledge. As a retired high school teacher she knows how to convey the history of the city and country. We got such a great overview of Prague and feel comfortable taking the public transportation and walking anywhere we want on our own after this experience with Gabriella!!

We were delighted to have Linda, our experienced guide, introduce us to the fabulous city of Prague. We were rather looking forward to this part of our journey, as so many of our friends and acquaintances had told us that this was their favorite city on the continent, and my goodness, were they right. Linda has been leading tours for a long time, and her keep knowledge of the city showed. She even took the time to review the itinerary of a tour we had scheduled for the following day, to ensure that we didn't waste time repeating places on our subsequent tour, something a less experienced guide wouldn't have done, and we appreciated her for this. When you combine her easy manner, ability to answer questions on a wide variety of subjects, and her funny stories about her husband Thor, it made for a perfect day. The truth is, our weather was fabulous, but we'd have enjoyed our time with Linda regardless. Take this tour!

Linda was an excellent tour guide! We visited all of the locations listed and she provided great background information. She also lead us to take a tram part of the way which enabled us to see things more leisurely. Instead of walking a long way up to Prague Castle we took the tram for free since we are seniors. She also recommended a great place for lunch at the end of our tour.

It was a wonderful experience. Linda is a terrific guide and person. Knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. I’m a photographer and she pointed things out that proved to be great things to photograph.
