A peasant must do activity in Baños

5.00I knew that this activity takes at least half a day if not more but I had time only on my last day in Baños after the white water rafting activity in the morning. Since I had done that activity with this company I figured I’d try my luck at renting a bike from them for the limited time. They gave me an excellent deal, chalked out the route and offered to stay open till 7:30pm so I have time to get back. Mind you, I started only at 4:30pm! After a whirlwind ride downhill, stopping at the best looking waterfalls and finally the two stops for Pailon del Diablo waterfall, I’m super happy I did it. The last stop is indeed the crowning glory and I got to see it after the lights were on and that was a separate experience by itself! Note that the entrance fees goes up by a couple of dollars after six for this reason. For those with enough time it would make sense to head further down and spend time at the other waterfalls further down the road. I was out of time by the time I hiked back out of Pailon and had to make a deal with the bike truck guy to take just me so that I could make it back in time to return the bike. It all worked out well and I’m truly happy I was able to squeeze this in with such limited time. I would advice folks to at least give it 4-5 hours to really enjoy it and not do it the way I did, lol. I was so happy I rented with these guys. Also note that it’s not really all downhill. There are small sections where you have to ride uphill for a bit before going downhill again. The route is beautiful and other vehicles are pretty respectful of bikes. Except the first tunnel all the other tunnels have alternative routes going around the tunnel. Depending on traffic it can be a squeeze in the first tunnel especially as you exit out of it until the road expands again (check pic). Happy biking!

5.00Love this agency!!! We rented bikes (very good quality!) for the waterfall route, and they gave us great recommendations (including to go to the waterfall 2km past pailon del diablo, machay, which was AMAZING and beautiful and empty). Then the next day we returned for paragliding and it was absolutely incredible. Next time I visit Baños I will 100% do another tour with TURISMO ECUADOR 24!
