We pre-booked our Hop on Hop Off bus tickets for 48 hours through Viator - hoping we'd get to spend 2 days learning about Chicago and hoping off and onto the bus to see all the tourist attractions. $306 for 5 of us. Unfortunately, our experience was awful. First of all, the directions provided on the tickets to locate the first stop to redeem our vouchers brought us in circles. We asked two different people working at establishments close by where to pick it up. The second one finally told us it was in front of the Trump Building. Had the tickets included that helpful piece of information, it would have saved us a lot of time looking for the address provided. Once on the bus we rode to the second stop. It was fun being on top, listening to history and fun facts as we made the trip to the Skydeck. When we hopped back on the bus to make our way to Stop #3 - Navy Pier, the bus kept shutting down. The driver finally instructed us that we'd need to get off the bus because it had broken down. When we inquired about the arrival of a replacement bus we were told the timeline was TBD. We walked the rest of the way to Navy Pier. Still holding out hope, we hopped back on the bus to head to Stop 9 - Magnificent Mile. Once on the bus we were told stops 9 and 10 were being combined, that we'd be dropped off at Stop 10 and could walk back to Stop 9. What!?!?! Once again, we walked back to Stop 9 and did our shopping. When we returned to Stop 10 for our pickup, the bus never arrived. We had downloaded the app to track the whereabouts of the buses so checked the timing of it's arrival. First it told us the bus was 9-12 minutes out. Then it jumped to the standard 30-45 minutes. A bit later, it dropped again to 9-12 minutes. Moments later, increased again to 30-45 minutes. We went from seeing several busses and various pick up times throughout the route to only seeing 2 busses and no estimated pick up times. We attempted to "chat" through the app, with no success. We ended up walking to our final stop. I contacted Viator/Big Bus to request a refund and explained our experience. I learned a refund would not be provided, but they would offer free passes for use in another city in the future. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend it nor would I feel comfortable using it in another city. Very disappointed by the entire experience.

Wonderful route chosen to view Chicago. Big Bus associates were very friendly and helpful, specifically Clifton Davis. Clifton was kind, very knowledgeable about the surrounding area, and provided the excellent customer service that we hoped we would receive on this tour.

We were packed in like sardines. Which was not my expectation. Saw 2 families actually FIGHT over seats upstairs. We lasted one stop.
