What To Expect
Bilbao
In a 3,30 hrs walking food tour you will dive into this world of culinary experiences, during which you will try only the best dishes of each restaurant and tapas bar. Sipping a glass of wine or local beer you will be able to feel this unique lifestyle, based on hard work but also moments of pleasure, social life and relax. We will walk through the beautiful streets of the old town, passing by the most famous monuments, while our local expert will give an insight into the history and culture. Please, bear in mind that the tastings here described may slightly change due to the season and the availability of our partners.
Plaza Nueva
You will start your culinary adventure from this iconic monument, a church devoted to Saint Nicholas, patron of sailors. After a quick introduction to Bilbao and Basque Country, we will move towards Plaza Nueva, one of the most vibrant spots in town and here you will discover what Basque cuisine has to offer. Indulge in the most local pintxos, of course served with traditional drinks that matches perfectly to these ingredients. Some examples? croquetas, huevo mollet, Patatas a la Riojana or Morcilla or Grillo!

5.00We had so much fun being introduced to the city’s incredible cuisine by Bilbao native Cristina. Our small group enjoyed laughs and good conversation while sampling delicious pintxos, learning how to pour the local sidra (cider), tasting local cheeses (from both the Spanish and French Basque Country), and ending with a couple of delightful desserts (butter buns and Pastel Vasco) from a small local bakery. Each food stop comes with a drink, so we sampled local Txakoli white wine, Rioja red wine, beer, and sidra (cider). Cristina gave us a list of not only the food and drinks we had sampled on the tour, but went above and beyond to give us additional restaurant recommendations in Bilbao, and also in San Sebastián, which was our next destination. Don’t hesitate to book…this Bilbao pintxos tour is one of our most cherished memories of our recent trip to the Basque Country—thank you Do Eat Better Experience and Cristina!

5.00I do not usually post reviews, but the experience we had today with Cristina was exceptional. We could visit the pintxos bars frequented by locals outside of sightseeing. A wonderful baccalao pil pil, pintxos with mushrooms, tortillas. All bathed in eight Riojas.
